I'm glad they're doing it, but I wish they'd just use the original cast, drop the kids, and bring back the Fratelli brothers! Oh well, I've only waited nearly 20 years for a sequel. I swear, I don't own the movie on VHS and DVD, 3 Goonie-related t-shirts, Goonies 2 for NES, Goonies for Famicom, an embroidered patch, and a bunch of stickers. No, really.

falser, I saw Flight of the Navigator in the theaters! I think I was going into 1st or 2nd grade. The ship they used for external shots is sitting on the backlot (outdoors in the elements)at Disney MGM, alongside such things as a snow speeder from Empire Striks Back and a skiff from Return of the Jedi. Well, they were in the early 90's...

Who else didn't get the "One-Eye Willie" joke until years later?

Yeah, that was me going, "OHHHHH, it was another name for penis!" while watching the DVD.
2003-11-12 02:23:01 PM

I didnt get it either until I read this thread.
2003-11-12 02:27:00 PM
I preferred the porn version, I believe it starred Ginger Lynn. "The Poonies." Now that's the sequel I'd like to see. Even if Ginger is pushin' 45 nowadays.

Can't anybody locate a photo of Sloth? I've got a friend who resemble him and I want to bust his balls.

The redhead from the movie is smokin' hot now.

I thought John Matuszak died from AIDS?
2003-11-12 02:34:27 PM
Keri Green is just as hot as ever--schwing!

But I'll still never forgive the b* for ripping poor Lucas's heart out and crushing it with one hand right before his eyes.

And since when did Traci Lords join the cast?

BTW, here is a better idea for a sequel (from a highly rated Photoshop entry done by yours truly):

NO, they cannot make a sequel to the last starfighter.

No, no no, that movie was perfect as was.
No screwing it up :)
2003-11-12 02:48:39 PM
Look I'm cool cuz I know HTML code too!
2003-11-12 02:50:49 PM
"Hey you guys.."
Just like to point out another pretty good movie in it's own sense screwed by sequel/prequel: Dumb and Dumber. Oh yea, and to continue on decent movies they need to just stop on, Hollywood's producing The Mummy Three (technically four). And there's proof that Spielberg screws up sequels, look at Jurassic Park 2.
On another note, farkers should pool money and buy rights to Star Wars and just remake the prequels or just make sure the originals disappear.
2003-11-12 02:52:13 PM
Why can't Spielberg purchase a mandatory Vow of Silence...renewable annually...(?)
2003-11-12 02:55:36 PM
So guns aren't PC, so they get cut out of ET... But a joke at the expense of an asian accent that's a key point of the movie is fine? I'm confused.
2003-11-12 03:12:42 PM
Why would someone with an accent say "Groonies"? There's not an L in sight.
2003-11-12 03:12:55 PM
I'm all for blatantly making fun of accents, but "Groonies" makes it sound like a cheap imitation (which it probably will be). I mean, if you're going to make fun of someone's accent, at least get the problem vowels/consonants correct.
2003-11-12 03:20:28 PM
Since we're talking about html code...

how do you write in different colors?
2003-11-12 03:22:24 PM
Hey, I saw the movie, "The Last Starfighter" when I was a kid. That movie CHANGED MY LIFE!!! I was a young hapless nobody who was doing nothing in life. I was going nowhere. After seeing a movie about a guy just like me, I was inspired to stop living in my parents basement and go out and make something of myself. And now, wouldn't you know it, I'm an honost to God starship captain!! Sure its a lonely life, what with being away from my wife and 3 kids, but hey, someone has to defend the Chyrik system (thats the Solar system for you laymen) from the Karuntz! Call me crazy but this may be the most rewarding job there is. So kids, never make fun of or mock "The Last Starfighter".

Will this version have the fabled octopus scene?
2003-11-12 03:45:45 PM
What's up with that Octopus scene? I saw it once when it was on TBS or soomething but never again. Is it on the DVD?
2003-11-12 03:54:26 PM
aero jockey:

Keri Green? Did she play the hot one that Troy adjusted the rear view mirror for? God it's been a long time since I saw Goonies. "Andy" was that her name? What did that biatch do to Speilburg?
2003-11-12 04:04:36 PM

heh i didnt get it either till i read it too,

goes so show how innocent we all were , now my mind is just crammed with horrible words like , titmouse, beaver and stinkfinger...

i feel sad now ...
2003-11-12 04:06:34 PM
the octopus scene is in the Special edition DVD. I remeber seeing that scene in the theaters, but was totally disappointed when it was cut from all television showings.

TBS recently showed the full version a few weeks back
2003-11-12 04:26:02 PM
It won't be the same without River Phoenix.

Post Surgery Sloth.

Close, but no cigar. Night need a bit more make-up for the sequel.
2003-11-12 04:51:55 PM
pardon the question, but what is a 'GIS'?

The brunette is kinda hot. Hmm.... both the girls are kinda hot.
2003-11-12 05:30:34 PM
I read all the comments, and not one mention of Chester Copperpot. Pitiful.

As for the sequel, if it's 1/2 as good as Blues Brothers 2000 or Slap Shot 2, then it must be made. /sarcasm
2003-11-12 06:01:13 PM
ohh god. i so want it not to suck. note, it will revolve more around the new kids. with teh old kids sharing philosophy. i like that! it might not suck. also, flight of the navigator II, would possibly be nice.

last starfighter... no. a sequel would be sacriligious.
2003-11-12 06:29:34 PM
Wow..Slapshot 2...GOD THAT movie was Horrid! I'd say it was the worst movie I have ever seen but I have seen Magnolia. I hope they don't remake this movie because I have learned as most people outside of Hollywood know that sequels are never as good as the original (see Star Wars series, Matrix series, the Crow 2, etc.
2003-11-12 06:33:51 PM
Oh yeah...and there would be no Sloth this time. It'd be cool if they somehow brought Joey Pants (Joe Pantoliano) back. I am as big of a fan of the first movie as you will find, but I have such a bad feeling that they will FARK this one up.
2003-11-12 07:26:27 PM
speilberg is an idiot
2003-11-12 08:34:48 PM

"Good enough, for you, is good enough for me, is good enough... It's good enough for me... AIYIYIYIYIYI..."

Damnit, everytime I think about that movie I get the Cyndi Lauper theme stuck in my head. Thanks.

As long as Data is once again saved by his Pinchas of Powa I'll be happy.

Oh and make sure to sock some guy in the nuts... doesn't matter who
2003-11-12 11:02:02 PM
Maybe Spielburg needed toilet paper...
(/Ich habe nichts...)

Oh yeah, wacamole, the HTML thing kinda reminds me of the Kids in the Hall sketch about the columnist who just recently discovered the word "AND"...

Jeeerk alert!!

and I'm referring to the idiots who are about to ruin my only happy memoury of childhood.

Data is so hot now. Whodathunkit?

I realize noone else is reading this thread, but I felt compelled to vote myself as the biggest Goonies geek alive. Here is the evidence:

1) Movie premiered, I saw it 6 times in the theatre, four of those times by myself. I was 13.
2) When the movie came out on VHS, I rented it AND a VHS player so I could tape it on my dad's lame ass Beta player. I proceeded to watch that movie every other day for probably 3-6 weeks.
3) I wrote Sean Astin many, many a geeked-out ode citing how cute and yummy he was. I finally got back an autographed picture of him, very cute, hung it on my bedroom wall above my bed.
4) I entered numerous Gooney contests sponsored by mags such as teen and tiger beat, Bop, etc.
5) When I was visiting colleges, I had applied to Lewis and Clark in Portland, Oregon and I convinced my mother to, not only drive our asses up to Cannon beach and Haystack Rock, but to track down Mikey's we did, we took pictures, it was very cool.

So what do I win?

2003-11-13 07:11:09 PM
I know I'm a bit late with this, but here she goes...
I think a sequel would kick some serious ass, as long as they don't go all Mummy2 on the script...

I also feel bad for Fresca-Ce-Ca, poor misguided youth (kidding)

I met Sean Astin back in 1995 at Ft Lewis in Washington state. We were setting up an artillery demonstration on an OP for the ROTC nazis. Very short guy, perfect hobbit. He was some sort of presidentially appointed "military to hollywood" liasion...
Don't ask.

This is better than the time Michael Jackson came over to my house to use the bathroom!
