Romney has a position. Look no further than who is on his staff- his advisers for immigration- Kris Kobach. Who? The author of Arizona SB 1070. The author of those laws in Alabama and Georgia. A member of FAIR- a racist organization who thinks that whites are superior to other races.

Romney embraces Kobach. THIS tells me his stance. Not his words. His actions. HIS ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN MY TYPING.

it's one of the more frustrating aspects of presidential elections - people don't often acknowledge that they're voting for the formation of an entire branch of government, not just a single individual. the people a candidate chooses as campaign advisers is a decent preview of their cabinet, diplomatic, and czar-esque appointments - Kobach is a human turd, but he's far from the only floater circling around romney.

NeoCortex42: Bontesla: apoptotic: Bontesla: thornhill: Time after time the Romney campaign has failed to develop what their talking points are to likely questions they're going to be asked. Early on it was questions about Mitt's wealth. Now it's about Supreme Court rulings. Weeks ago they should have developed what their message would be on all likely rulings by the court.

If this is how inept his campaign staff is, they've got serious problems in the fall.

(or, they simply don't care and their strategy comes down to Super PAC TV buys).

I think this is the strategy. I think this is intentional and planned.

I agree. I don't think the GOP (with the exception of Romney himself and Adelson) really wants to win the Presidency. They'd rather take control of the Senate and still be able to blame Obama for anything that comes up less than roses for another 4 years, and be able to claim that, since they tossed a crapload of money at the election and still lost, Citizens United isn't the democracy killer that "the libs" are portraying it to be.

I disagree. I think they realize their odds of winning the presidency are low, so they're trying some poli sci. It's actually quite exciting: knowing every tride and true political theory will not help, you're forced to get creative.

I think they're employing the Casey Anthony strategy. Throwing everything at the wall in hopes of confusing enough people to make a difference. Maybe the goal isn't winning votes but simply discouraging people not to vote because the political circus is insulting.

Rubio's interview on last night's Daily Show was interesting. Stewart kept pushing about the GOP being obstructionist and prioritizing making Obama a one-term president, and Rubio's basic response is "both sides are bad". And that's how I'm sure they'll be spinning it in November. "We only doing what we can. The obstructionist Democrats force us to be be obstructionist."

Rubio is pretty smooth. If Romney was allowed to let Rubio do the debates for him, he might actually have a chance.

Republicans: We won. Suck it you stupid libs.
Democrats: No, you troglodytes, we won. You lost, get over it.
Republicans: Oh yeah? We got most of what we wanted, so you lose, goddamn hippie scum.
Democrats: Well we got most of what we wanted, so you can kiss my ass, you redneck bigots.
Dems and Repubs: RAAAUUWWWWWRRRRR!!!! RRAAAGGEEEE!!!!

Any other profession where a conflict exists:

Person 1: I feel good about this. I got most of what I wanted.
Person 2: I feel that this is arrangement is good for me as well.
Person 1: Awesome, sounds like we found something that works for everyone.
Person 2: I agree.
Person 1: Whoa, it's 4:00 already, and we're still here on a Friday. You know what that means.
Person 2: Time for beers?
Person 1: I'll meet you there.

I agree. I just finished watching the entire Daily Show interview (all ~40 minutes of it) and I do think Rubio would do pretty well in a debate. At least a whole lot better than Romney ever could. There was still a lot of double-talk and a bit of back-peddling, but he handled the interview very well overall and didn't get completely lost. I'm just disappointed we won't get to see Romney's debate skills against Obama until October.

Also, we need to get Jon Stewart to moderate one of the debates. I think he could do a great job keep the participants on topic.

I'd love to see Colbert moderate it, in character, but I also would like a 5-way with the chicks on Mad Men and that ain't going to happen either.

It was pathetic is what it was. Stewart tried a couple of times to articulate the question in a such a manner that there was no possible "BSARB" answer possible (and not come of as an asshole, which he didn't). Rubio just kept on him. I think JS should have skewered him right there on the show for that bullshiat.

mrshowrules: qorkfiend: Diogenes: Take every question and direct it toward a preplanned, scripted answer.

Any decent politician does this every chance they get already; you pivot to what you want to talk about as fast as possible.

Pretend you are Romney and give it shot. My question: "How do you reconcile your Mormon faith never allowing its followers to fight in a war considering your will be Commander in Chief?"

What is the Mormon position against military service? I know they secured draft deferments for some of their missionaries in the 60's, but I've known WAY too many Mormons in the military to think they have a rule of "never allowing its followers to fight in a war."

Do you have some type of reference for this?

Jake Havechek: Mitt Romney can hold at least 16 contradictory positions at the same time without suffering a mental breakdown.

Romney actually takes both sides of the issue simultaneously in superposition...until the polls are released, at which time his brain function collapses into the most popular state.

Given CNN's ratings, which are usually trailing Celebrity Boche Ball taped delayed highlights, I'd say that a whoooooole lot of people agree with Alphax.

Diogenes: gilgigamesh: Good.

Far be it from me to believe that the press will start doing its job anytime soon, but they can't just let Romney and his representatives follow through on their strategy to take no position on absolutely anything until November.

It's getting tiresome watching them blatantly dodge answering a direct question and get away with it. Start nailing these farkers down for chrissake.

I guarantee that he's going to adopt Palin's debate strategy. Take every question and direct it toward a preplanned, scripted answer. And his supporters will never realize he didn't answer a farking a thing and crown him the winner. Obama's talent for thinking on his feet will mean nothing in that scenario. Which is depressing.

That's what all candidates do in national elections. You actually think they give honest answers? I have yet to hear a libtard candidate not dodge a question about anything.

Let me guess, you work for CNN?

What difference does it make here? O'Brien was doing her job well here.

Quit white knighting her. She ain't gonna give you any poosy. O'brien was just spewing the libtard talking points that were being force fed into her ear piece...probably straight from Carville's word hole.

vpb: His position is a quantum superposition.

It must be difficult appealing to minorities when racist hillbillies are your base.

It must be equally difficult, or maybe even moreso, to have shoved your head up your ass so many times that the combination of fumes and lack of O2 leads you to believe that executive power allows you to simply provide amnesty for millions of current and future illegal aliens. Clearly this is not anti-naturalization nor circumventing Congressional authority. Clearly this is the way the things should be ahead of the election. Clearly.

Who's got the flimsiest policy on deportation? Obama's deported more than anyone, but now he's got 'religion' on the issue...just like gay marriage just like Afghanistan just like pandering to unions, which by the way have multiples of dollars as the corporate fat cats supposedly funding Romney.

And Fark Romney for that matter. Wtf does he think he is? He's just as guilty, promising false hope to Latinos.

Fark em all..

Romney tries the old "convert any question asked by a reporter into an Obama bash without actually answering the question" dodge and finally one reporter calls shenanigans on his weasel-esque behaviour?

WooT! That's one in a row. A new record.

/Has anyone mentioned yet that Soledad O'Brien is pleasant looking woman because that should certainly be noted at some point.
