Not really a great list - it read more like a list of guys the author didn't like.

No. 8: Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler: If ever there was a jerk face prototype, it would be Cutler. Plays the part well with the best smirk in the NFL. His defenders say he's not so jerkish

Of course Jay Cutler's defenders love him. He throws the ball to them quite often.

2012-06-26 01:33:34 PM
No Roger Goodell? Seriously??

2012-06-26 01:35:34 PM
No. 7: Donald Driver: The opposite of the me-first jerk wide receiver.

So does that makes DeSean Jackson and Brandon Marshall Jerk-Me First receivers?

Station: Not really a great list - it read more like a list of guys the author didn't like.

THIS! Sounds like the author may have lost some serious bets in the past or something. Even the good guy list is just people he likes. No explanation required.

2012-06-26 01:36:51 PM
I've read Fark posts better though out and executed than that. Sports tab posts, man.

2012-06-26 01:36:54 PM
Hey subby, the Jerk Store called and they ran out of YOU!

2012-06-26 01:38:34 PM
Well, isn't it kinda inherent that "jerks" just means "people the writer doesn't like," really? I don't know.

Station: Not really a great list - it read more like a list of guys the author didn't like.

I'm not sure what he's basing it on. Osi Umenyiora, DeSean Jackson, Darelle Revis, Percy Harvin, etc. all have the same "it's my money and I need it now!" attitude and to place DeSean Jackson above the rest seems silly. Brandon Marshall is a headcase with admitted mental issues. Cutler is a douche. But on a list with scumbags/criminals in Owens and Vick, respectively, I'm not sure how to include them. Personally, I'd toss players like Nick Farley or Rolando McClain on a list before half those guys.

/This article is "shiat, deadline time and I've got nothing".

No Cortland Finnegan?

2012-06-26 01:42:52 PM
AJ Smith and Roger Goodell belongat the top of the list

/freeman is a world-class hack

2012-06-26 01:48:50 PM
So Cutler is a jerk because he flipped off paparazzi? They are so scummy they barely qualify as human.

Jay says the right things in the media, he plays hard and has consistently improved since coming to Chicago, and does a lot of charity work.

2012-06-26 01:48:52 PM
Article makes no sense: "When contemplating the NFL's biggest jerks we came up with a lot of Detroit Lions...Yet miracles do exist, so we and we present the NFL's 10 biggest jerks while keeping Lions representatives to a minimum. "

So that should mean the Lions have the most players on this list right?

Eagles: 2
Bears: 2

49ers: 1
Jets: 1
Steelers: 1
Saints: 1
Lions: 1

2012-06-26 01:49:33 PM

Ah yes. The List of ___________... column. fark that. I'll attempt to make an intelligent reply on his column when he writes an intelligent column. And I actually kind of like the guy. I think someone should write a column that's a list of all the journalists who rely overmuch on the worthless crutch 'list of' columns.

No. 3: New Orleans Saints: A collective award. And who knows if they even did what they're accused of doing. If they're guilty, they belong in this spot. If they're innocent, then this is where Ndamukong Suh , leg stomper, dirty player, shall go. So ordered.

ha. i've long believed that the NFL swept the Vicodin pill matter under the rug because they (the NFL) didn't want to destroy all the good will from the Super Bowl win.....you can find quotes of Payton issuing vague non-answers about "well, we gotta let things play out, the organization is moving forward, i can't say much more than that, i'm moving ahed" instead of NO I DIDN'T USE PILLS NOR DID THE TEAM PERMIT ANYONE TO RAID THE MEDICINE CABINET.

and then they were warned about Bountygate and still stepped on their dick.

and what's really odd, is you have Vilma, Fujita, and that one guy making all kinds of noise about how there was no program, no bounties, the evidence doesn't exist, blah blah blah, but.....why isn't Sean Payton or Mickey Loomis saying that? riddle me that.

/i know, obvious answer, "because they want to coach again someday, dummy". if it isn't true, then they should be marching arm in arm with the players. and they're not.

2012-06-26 02:03:52 PM
Suh should've definitely been in there instead of the Saints, considering we're still not sure if they did what people say they did. And Suh is definitely guilty of what he did.

And Tom Coughlin? Really? He gets fired from everywhere, so that makes him the #1 not jerk? Move Aaron Rodgers up to #1. Author sounds like a Giants fan.

You may notice this list is strong at wide receiver

Of course it is. You have to be an arrogant SOB to think you can run 20 yards away from your qb, catch the pass over your shoulder, and proceed to the end zone. Some WR's handle that ego better than others, but I'd figure they're all arrogant, at least about their abilities.

Stupid autocorrect

Wouldn't mind seeing him get planted by Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil a couple times this year

I'd have to say that Tony Romo belongs in the not-jerk list. What, pulling over and helping people change tires and taking random people to the movies doesn't qualify as good?

Also, if you've ever played an NFL video game where you play as a WR, you understand why they're the way they are. Every f*cking time you're open, the QB doesn't throw your way. Then he throws your way when you're covered, someone interferes with you, and no one calls it...now you know the QB isn't throwing your way again forever and your value is dropping with every time you're ignored.

Then your coach calls like 8 runs in a row and you're like "OKAY GAME THIS SH*T IS REALLY F*CKING ANNOYING."

2012-06-26 02:11:17 PM
Suh definately belongs on the bad guy list.

Polamamalu definately belongs on the good guys list.

2012-06-26 02:13:41 PM
Media: Jay Cutler is a big jerk!!!!!

Fans: How so?

Media: Well, uh, he just seems like he'd be a jerk! He's got that look. You know the one.

2012-06-26 02:19:04 PM

iron_city_ap: Polamamalu definately belongs on the good guys list.

CSB:

he has a house in arizona in a town one of my coworkers lives in. a couple of years ago, she told me that her son was at PeeWee football practice, and Troy Freaking Polamalu drove up, and asked the coaches if he could watch or help. they of course were like, HELL YES. after practice, he gave a short speech about staying in school, setting goals, and being a good teamate, etc. he then stuck around and signed autographs and took pictures and so on.

now, when my friend told me this, i was like, GET THE fark OUT OF HERE. i'm like, "he went to USC, he's from SoCal, why in the hell would he be in your little rink dink town?" and then she later emailed me the pictures of Troy with her son that one of the coaches took.

good guy.

2012-06-26 02:22:33 PM
Albert Haynesworth?

2012-06-26 02:25:07 PM
Maurice Jones-Drew has always seemed like a good guy, but anyone who walks away while his buddy, Ricky Manning Jr., uses homophobic and racial slurs then proceeds to beat up a random guy at Denny's shouldn't be on the top 10 good guys list. While he wasn't involved in the fight, he also didn't attempt to prevent it from happening.

2012-06-26 02:26:53 PM

IAmRight: I'd have to say that Tony Romo belongs in the not-jerk list. What, pulling over and helping people change tires and taking random people to the movies doesn't qualify as good?

Well I was gonna mention how wonderful he is, but people would be all "Jesus woman, this again?" So. I guess I'll just let my profile do my talking about how he's basically the best person ever.

rickythepenguin: she told me that her son was at PeeWee football practice, and Troy Freaking Polamalu drove up

Wow. That really IS a CSB!

Also, where's Warren Sapp's dumb ass? I'd also put Leonard Little over Stallworth in the honorable mentions since Little was arrested for DUI again after his manslaughter.

the really cool CSB is she just texted me that she worked out next to Ice T at the gym today.

dammit. he's probably gonna turn her out. Girl, you needs to be EARNIN'.

/no, but seriously, i thought that story was BS until she showed me the proof. and she looked up the real estate records (public information) showing he owns a house in that town. bizarre. best i can figure is his wife or whatever must be from that town. or who knows. maybe he just wants to live in this small ass town 45 minutes from phoenix.

*shrug*

Retired.

If anything, DeMaurice Smith handed Goodell a lot of the power he has.

The thing that everyone forgets about Goodell is that he's looking out for the business enterprise of the game and making sure it actually lasts more than ten years. Player safety is a huge deal. The reason that baseball is dead now had it's roots a generation ago when the best athletes in this country gravitated toward football and basketball. The only reason it had a nice resurgence after the 1994 strike was due to the steroid/HGH era.

It all starts with young kids, and if more and more parents decide that it's too dangerous, a lot of the best athletes will show up in other sports. Image is everything, and the NFL can't be seen to be anything but hardass on players who were allegedly involved in the bounty scandal. I think it's wrong that Goodell is a judge, jury, and executioner, but that is the power he has been handed, and it's a business, not a public proceeding. No one involved in the scandal is bigger than the game, and while their individual careers may suffer, it's for the ongoing concern of the game itself. The punishments don't fit the crime, but you also knew going in that you'd be dealing with someone who has absolute power if a "crime" were ever committed.

Really, why chance it?

2012-06-26 02:32:44 PM

Doogled: lso, where's Warren Sapp's dumb ass?

i submitted taht story a few days ago about "warren sapp half apolgizes to shockey about the snitch, but stands by his source. huh?"

i don't understand that. sapp apologized for "taking it to the street level", but in the story, told the radio station he stood by his source. so is he saying he shouldn't have made the accusation public, or was he saying he had bad info from a source he usually would trust? seemed like the former. YEAH MY SOURCE IS UNIMPEACHABLE BUT YEAH, SORRY FOR TAKING IT PUBLIC.

also, i will never forget brave Warren Sapp, after he went Operation Codename: Gumby on Chad Clifton's leg, how the then-Packer coach (fritz sherman, mike sherman, fritz williams) was yelling at Sapp, and sapp is like "PUT ON A HELMET! PUT ON HELMET, THEN! PUT ON A HELMET IF YOU WANNA GO!"

sapp at the time was probably 30-32 years old, 6'3" 280, and he's challenging a 55yr old man to a fight.

dumbass.

I know, right? Who the hell would want to live in Phoenix, much less the outskirts of Phoenix?

But to many, like me, though it's clear that Vick has changed, the crime was so disgraceful, more time is still needed to make sure the change I've seen in him is not an act but permanent.

The man served almost 2 years at Leavenworth. I know you think things are super rosy in there because you lived through that whole period of time and you were fine. Millions gone, millions more as the prime years of his career were sacrificed. But nope, that's not enough.

Yeah, I think what he did was completely awful. Atrocious.

However, he does seem genuinely sorry about it and I hope that it wound up doing more good in the long run by shedding light on just how big of a problem dog fighting is.

Except they're not because the humidity is low thereby allowing their sweat to evaporate & cool their hot little bodies properly.

Now Houston.... those biatches never dry off....
