Quasar: a recent Vatican report that said some organizations led by nuns have focused too much on economic injustice while failing to promote the church's teachings on abortion and same-sex marriage

What's worse: the report, or that I'm actually almost surprised by that?

Remind me again, what was Jesus' teaching on abortion and same-sex marriage? Really? Huh.

OK, how about social injustice. Did he have anything to say about that? Anything about the rich and the poor? Or some sort of sermon, maybe on a mount, where the topic was addressed?

/The Vatican is a corporation whose primary objective is the continued power of the Vatican.

I call it Retard Red.

I do it too, but I realize it has a bad effect because now I read their shiat more because I notice it.

Me three. I just have Red 2 for troll and Red 4 for suspected troll/idiot. It takes a while to get past Red 4 because I don't want to dismiss someone just because they make a couple foolish comments about one subject; we've all done that. If you make it to Red 2 I typically don't read what you say. I only read it if I need it to understand the context of what someone else is saying.

A few people have made it all the way to ignore, but it takes more than just being a troll.
1) Racists/misogynists/etc. More generally people who are driven by hatred or are simply vile beings.
2) constantly show up, fling poo, and disappear without defending their comments
3) constantly threadshiat a bunch of crappy partisan cartoons so I have to scroll like crazy to read useful comments
4) continually respond to my comments with absurd bullshiat that isn't worth responding to

Corvus: Christian atheism

some from the wiki entry:
In the Protestant Church in the Netherlands (PKN) and several other smaller denominations of the Netherlands, 1 in 6 clergy are either agnostic or atheist.[5] A reverend of the PKN, Klaas Hendrikse has described God as "a word for experience, or human experience" and said that Jesus may have never existed.[5]

You can call whatever you want... whatever you want. However you can't change reality to fit it. Christianity is the belief in the divinity of Christ. You can't make a leg a tail just by calling it such.

red5ish: On an Iowa radio show this weekend, Rep. Tom Latham (R-IA) laughed along as the host suggested he "pistol whip" nuns who are objecting to the Republicans' draconian budget cuts. Rep. Latham responded to the suggestion by saying, "It's always fun to be on your show."

When women merely speak up, let alone act in opposition to these turds, they will cheerfully talk of throwing acid in women's faces or pistol-whipping nuns. This kind of talk has been backed up with action in places as diverse as El Salvador and Afghanistan. There has been a long, organized campaign in the United States via propaganda to prepare people for the real thing.

I guess we're only all Catholics now as long as the Catholics are saying what we want to hear, huh?

Yea, but that's not being a Christian. I'm not a Lincolnian because I believe in the existence of Abraham Lincoln.

You can't hold two mutually exclusive ideas in equal regard. Atheism and theism can't exist in the same rationalization. Agnosticism isn't atheism.

This man is a conservative talk show host, therefore he speaks for ALL conservatives. Just like Bill Maher speaks for ALL liberals.

Ya see... When you frame things as "A or B", you sometimes get bit in the ass when "B" acts like an idiot.

In other words, you're a bad person and you should feel bad for being on the same team as Jan Mickelson. Also, Rep. Tom Latham had a nice chuckle after Mickelson's little "joke". Is this the type of person you stand behind?

I don't know that the historical record is as clear as you make it. All we really have to work with is a reference to "Christos" being crucified by Pilate at about the right time, and a collection of writings from what could very well have been a bunch of stoners pissed off because the Romans chased them out of Judea(that would be the New Testament). I've really only ever seen references to "Christ" as a title in much more recent contexts.

Cheers.

Stuff like this is why I want nothing to do with the Catholic Church anymore, and am now an athiest.
