If that doesn't do it, God experiencing the Sock Gap with Mary should.

Things Christ talked about in the Bible:

Help those less fortunate than yourself.
Love everyone, even your enemies.
Don't judge others, for you too have flaws.
Be peaceful, even in the face of violence.
Being greedy is bad.
Being generous is good.

Things Christ did not talk about in the Bible:

Homosexuality.
Abortion.
The definition of marriage.
Pistol-whipping nuns.

So, when are the real Christians in this country going to stand up and tell ass-clowns like this guy that he needs to concentrate more on list one and less on list two if he still wants to call himself a Christian?

It's Ok that I took a small piece of the headline (Nuns on a bus being pistol-whipped) and the picture to the right with the caption "to Rome with Love" and let my thoughts wander, right?

Cheers.

I've seen where this kind of attitude leads.

So to sum up - the propaganda and hate wing of the Republicans are now thinking at the same moral level as the an El Salavdoran banana republic dictator. And encouraging others to do the same.

And the duly-elected congressman laughed. Real farking classy.

Darth_Lukecash: mrshowrules: Darth_Lukecash: meat0918: Codenamechaz: Because there's nothing more christian than the time honored tradition of pistol-whipping nuns.

Nuns are typically Catholic, ergo, they are not Christian.

Incorrect. They believe in the divinity of Christ. In fact was one of the first movements to do so.

They were one of the first two break offs from the original Judaism sect. The other one being Eastern Orthodox. The only reason why I didn't give it the original is weather or not you believed that the Catholics broke off from Eastern, or the Eastern broke off from Catholic.

Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses are not Christians. Neither believe that Jesus is God.

If you follow the teachings of Christ as your main thing, you can self identify as a Christian if you want. Technically, I think you could be an athiest and Christian at the same time. Christianity has no central authority to say otherwise or to define Christianity one way or the other. Oxford/Webster/Wikipedia is just as valid.

The basic tenant of Christianity is the divinity of Christ. If you do not believe in that, then you are a one who follows a teaching of a unorthodox rabbi. You cannot be an atheist and believe in Jesus. You can say you follow the guidelines of Jesus, but no Atheist would believe in miracles

google definition:

chris·ti·an·i·ty/ˌkrisCHēˈanitē/
Noun:
The religion based on the person and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, or its beliefs and practices. Christianity is today the world's...
Christian quality or character.

Just as valid as any other nonesense or fairy tale. Like arguing what constitutes an actual vampire in fantasy books. Christianity has no recognized central authority which defines what you have to believe about Christ to make you a Christian.

Cannot be an atheist and believe in the divinity of Jesus.

Jesus is a man's name. Christ is a religious title afforded "the/a Messiah".

If you do not believe Jesus was Christ you cannot be Christian no matter how much you like the things you think he said. You can still believe in the prior existence of a dude named Jesus who said a bunch of cool things and be a "Jesusian" or something.

What's worse: the report, or that I'm actually almost surprised by that?

it gets more crazy when you realize that Christ talked more about economic injustice than he ever did about abortion or gays.

Hell, isn't that pretty much all he talked about?

Proof that the Religious Right and Catholic Church are nothing more than a bunch of posers twisting Christ's teachings for their own personal greed.

Actually, one can be an atheist and "believe" that someone named Yeshua existed, as long as the evidence points this out. Generally speaking atheists also deny magic and other supernatural things like "divinity". However the only thing that is strictly necessary is the acceptance of the non-existence of gods. The other things follow logically.

Christian atheism

some from the wiki entry:
In the Protestant Church in the Netherlands (PKN) and several other smaller denominations of the Netherlands, 1 in 6 clergy are either agnostic or atheist.[5] A reverend of the PKN, Klaas Hendrikse has described God as "a word for experience, or human experience" and said that Jesus may have never existed.[5]

Genghis was actually fairly progressive for his time. He had "rule of law," religious freedom, and even tax exempt status for charities. Quite a lefty if you think about it.

dahmers love zombie: A Vatican report also recently criticized the nuns for focusing too much on the Catholic Church's message about social and economic justice instead of spending time opposing abortion and marriage equality.

Ah, yes. They should be more Christlike, because we all know that Christ spent basically zero time talking about social and economic justice and blathered on and on and on about abortion and gay marriage, right?

The sooner the Catholic Church is dead and in the ground, the closer we'll be to a truly benevolent society. The same is true of all other religions, of course, but those with money and organization seem to be just SO more capable of doing such incredible evil to people in the name of their God.

Catholics don't die. They're the original zombies. Resurrections want brains.

That's easy. The Bible clearly shows that God is a vengeful and jealous prick.
