That's okay, the bullet is in his shirt pocket.

As for the deputy who clearly fouled up by leaving a gun behind, the Sheriff's Department said he won't be disciplined.

Damn. I know that guns become a part of a cop's everyday wardrobe and you have to take it off anytime you have to sit in a public restroom, but how can a cop forget his gun? Why would they not discipline this cop for allowing his gun to fall into someone else's hands?

I wonder about the doctor that found it too. Was he thinking "If you're stupid enough to leave a gun in the bathroom, you deserve to sweat about it a little," or was he "Fark it - I found it so it's mine now." The former I can understand, the latter makes him a dick.

My favorite episode of Andy Griffith is that one when Andy and Opie are sitting on their porch and Andy tells Opie that Potsie is a moron and the Fonz is a bad influence.

Why is the doctor in trouble? Finders keepers, Barney.

2012-06-25 05:13:33 PM
Sources said at first he hesitated to give the gun back but finally handed over the weapon.

FINDERS KEEPERS M*THERF*CKER!!!

I'm guessing he was playing with it in front of the mirror. Pointing at himself, making tough guy talk, then his radio went off and his cop buddies were meeting at dunkin doughnuts for lunch. Then he said, sweeeet, and scampered off, leaving the gun behind.

How many of your moron classmates from your kid career called the star of the show "Andy Griffin"?

2012-06-25 05:17:39 PM
Can someone post a picture of the Seattle police car with the AR-15 left on the trunk while the officer went in for coffee?

Oh, also, if you could put "Amateur" underneath in bold print that would be cool.

I'm glad the doctor was a non-Presbyterian. 'Cause if he was, you know, a Presbyterian ...

Weird, the exact same thing happened here in Oregon last year. It was even a hospital bathroom.

Potty larceny: Cop loses gun in restroom

Why do you need to take off your gun to go to the bathroom??

Meh, when i was a police officer, i accidentally left my pr-24 sts in the public restroom. Way too much equipment to carry around, and using the bathroom is an adventure as it takes you 6 minutes just to get all your equipment off. Never left my gun in a restroom tho.

/Yes..i got it back quickly.

I would assume, depending on how it was carried, (I'm guessing inside the waist holster) that the cop didn't want his weapon falling on the piss drenched floor, or possibly into the toilet when he dropped his pants.

Or maybe he's VERY paranoid about someone walking in on him while he's dropping a duece.

Why is everyone always hating on Officer Fife? He was always so friendly, who cares that he seemed a little... vacant.

And Mr. Furley overheard it but there was a mixup and he thought Fonzie had a "bad influenza". Hilarity ensued.

mabey someone feels the pain this guy will carry is punishment enough. if it was you or me this would ending much different, and that would be right too (simply applying the law for an offense).

That seems more like a duty rig than off-duty. The 2 cops I know carry in fairly standard non-cop IWB holsters when they're off. I'm not a cop, though, so fwiw...

Happened at my office a few years ago. One of the guards put his 38 on the top of the toilet tank. A co-worker of mine found it and returned it. That would be rather ass-clenching.... to walk up to a guard checkpoint with a loaded hand gun......

because the urge to pop one in your own head is just so strong. and the hospital already has a janitor on staff.

In one episode, Andy thought just that when an escaped con took Barney's gun. After Andy conned the gun off the con, he found out Barney had put the bullet in the gun by pulling the trigger to demostrate the gun was empty. The gun discharged much to the dismay of Andy for how close he came to death.

/is the bullet really in the shirt?
//never assume the bullet is in the shirt

Wasn't there a thread a while back where it was suggested that things like this should be covered in all concealed carry classes? Maybe they should cover it in the academy as well. Off duty so probably carrying in a waistband holster with no retention strap.... or those gunderwear. (Gundies?)

That's generally something I like to point out. The public is generally very concerned that CCW holders can shoot accurately and such in case they ever get into a gun fight in public, but I've never seen any real data on strict training and testing requirements actually improving this number between states. To be honest there probably aren't enough CCW shootings to actually generate stats on that.

The overwhelming majority of CCW holders, and police, will never ever get into a gun battle.

But every single one of them will have to take a shiat with their gun on. Train for that, not fantasy land.
