schattenteufel: Who wrote this article? The Department of Redundancy Department?

No, it was the Department of Redundant Redundancy Department.

Some decent Kari pictures here, however...

media.redbalcony.com

Also, the faked Playboy pics are fairy decent quality, and almost believable.

The bald one? With the beret and moustache?

He's a smug, pompous, annoying ass.

sammyk: FTA:Tesla's brilliance began to fade into madness in his later years, and though some of his proposed inventions would later provide great material for science fiction, few of them were ever tested empirically.

Really? Alternating current ring a bell? Fluorescent lighting? Electric motors? Link

Those weren't late inventions. The Niagra Falls generating plant and the long-distance transmission lines were the high point of his career.

LATE in his life, when he descended into OCD and other problems he produced notions like the harmonic device they tried on Mythbusters, and a vibrating stool which caused the sphincter of anyone who sat on it to relax (Mark Twain was a fan of that one).

Another Government Employee: Wasilla Hillbilly: I know I'm in the minority here, and I find the concept of their show interesting, but those two guys just irritate the shiat out of me.

Adam can be irritating. He's kind of like Kermit the Frog.

I went back and watched the first couple of seasons recently, and though he's annoying, Adam is the only one early on who understand that what they were doing was on TV, and that they needed to play to the camera. A lot of the stupid shiat he does/did is because it makes for good TV.

How about the myth that it's better to keep your computer running 24/7 than to turn it off/on everyday?

Another Government Employee: This is still the episode that blew my mind.

Lots of courage, here.

What are they doing to her?

It's the Chinese Water Torture episode. They have her strapped to a rack.

According to the timer, she lasted a bit over an hour.

Tori looked fiendishly happy about her being strapped down.

He's a smug, pompous, annoying ass.

Says the guy who claimed the Occupy movement was about "the Unions, the ACORNs, the Nazis."

Love the show, My daughter and I watch it all the time. Does a great job with teaching of the scientific method. My favorite nerd myth wasn't listed though, a bullet dropped and a bullet fired will hit the ground at the same time. The amount of work they put into that was truly impressive. Non-nerdy myth though was the Hwacha that was great. Could see how the Japanese samurais saw fifty of those firing off at them and said, 'Fark this." turned around and went home.
