RepoManTSM: The Greg Gagne/Benoit comparison is ridiculous. Gagne was a diagnosed dementia patient that had to confined to an institution who got into a fight with another patient and ended up killing him due to not knowing own strength and that the other guy was so fargile.

Benoit was able to preform in front of millions on TV days before the killings. He decided to skip a PPV to go and kill his family. He was able to text Chavo to make sure his dogs got taken cared of.

Being mentally ill does not mean he would have gotten off if he didn't off himself. The insanity defense is really used and even more rarely successful. It requires established the defendant had no concept of right and wrong.

The only reason Benoit wasn't diagnosed was because prior to 2007, you only needed clearance from a general practitioner after sustaining a concussion. Most guys were back within a week of sustaining a concussion and many would work the next night. After it came to light that Chris Benoit's brain was so messed up because of concussions over the years, every major company requires ImPACT testing to determine fitness to return to action.

In the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, it is difficult to tell because a person will go in and out of lucidity. Then, there's the rage associated with the condition. It is entirely possible that Nancy and Chris got into an argument during one of his less lucid phases and the rage overtook reason. Once he realized what he had done, he knew he could not care for his son and smothered him, believing it more merciful for the boy than having to deal with a life of knowing his dad killed his mom. After that, he became depressed, got drunk, backed off the PPV, texted Chavo to look after the dogs and took his own life because he figured himself better off dead.

It really is no different than Verne Gagne bodyslamming his nursing home roommate, resulting in the man's death.

He was sick. His illness was a result of his profession. The loss of life, particularly the innocent ones, should be mourned. However, I don't see a reason to demonize someone that did not have a fully functioning brain.

Vince wiped out Chris's family and framed Chris.

He knew too much. Why do you think all these wrestlers are dying so young. THEY KNOW TOO MUCH. When is Congress going to investigate these cold blooded murders??

Completely bat shiat insane people don't text their friends and tell them where to find the bodies and to be careful of the attack dogs when you come get us.

3:53 AM - Chris Benoit's cell phone: "My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane, Fayeteville Georgia. 30215"
3:53 AM - Chris Benoit's cell phone: "The dogs are in the enclosed pool area. Garage side door is open."

You've never met someone who had Alzheimer's (which his doctor said his brain looked like), did you? Lucidity varies from patient to patient and patients slip in and out of lucidity all the time.

I wonder whatever happened to the murder house?

Did some poor bastard wind up buying it, not knowing what they just bought?

Actually, none of what happened sounds like something a completely sane person would do.

The house was built in 2005 and sold in 2010 for $625,000.

In an interview with ESPN.com on Tuesday, Ballard indicated that the boy had needle marks in his arms. The district attorney said he believed that the boy had been given growth hormones for some time because the family considered him undersized.

Chris Benoit - farking scumbag.

Someone should take the time to piss on his grave once a year.

From Wiki:

In 2003, Benoit had been inducted into the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame. As a result of the double murder-suicide, his induction underwent a recall election in 2008. Benoit was retained as a member by a narrow margin

Stay classy, wrestling fans.

The Football Hall of Fame does not have a procedure for removing someone, although perhaps they should.

Wrestling Observer had a chance to do the right thing and didn't.

Except, Benoit was in that HoF for his wrestling work, not for being a great human being.

His wrestling work didn't magically change on June 26, 2007.

Of course, I'm not one for rewriting history just because people feel sensitive about something. If he was already in, he's in, end of story. I don't see WWE champing at the bit to induct him into their hall of fame, and that's fine, too.

WWE's hall of fame is nothing but a way to screw older wrestlers out of their rights for a pittance and one more night of glory.
