What a shame. They would have made such a dynamic duo.

I wondered what happened to Tim PawlezzzzZZZZzzzzzZZZZzzzz

Who hasn't actually turned it down? Rob Portman? Michele Bachmann? Paul Ryan? None of those would make a difference, and Bachmann and Ryan would probably make it worse!

You mean the list of Republicans who know Mittens is going to lose and don't want their names attached to his.

2012-06-24 05:19:18 PM
2012 is gonna be the CAIN TRAIN, America!!!!!

Or Allen West or whatsisname the former head of the RNC. I mean, Republicans only have three black guys, right?

The media has assured me that its a heated horse race scenario where everything that happens could affect the eventual outcome. They have no reason to mislead me in this, so you must be mistaken.

I wouldn't count on it. Mittens actually polled worse in Florida with a hypothetical Rubio VP pick.

Not to mention the DREAM Act drama.

Romney Veep Pick = Kiss of Death.

Serious candidates are waiting for 2016 when there isn't a popular incumbent in office that's why nutball Romney got "his turn" here and why the rest of pack were such clownshoes.

Looks like the GOP might have to strong-arm a less-than-willing candidate into the gig.

Now it's just a matter of waiting to find out finding out which of Romney's short list is woke up with a horses head in their bed.

The GOP should just take a pass this time around. Nobody wants to ride the Fail-bus that is this ticket. They should just kinda say, 'look, we're going to lose. We know it, you know it. Let's just build the coffers for 2016.'

2012-06-24 05:42:15 PM
They're hoping to find someone who won't make Romney look bland by comparison. I think they're down to Pawlenty and a cheese sandwich. With the crust cut off.

I don't know if it's true but the Romney campaign came back later saying he WAS being vetted. Who the heck knows? Who the heck cares?

My friend has gone from questioning everything about Romney to only questioning the fact that he's Mormon.

Republicans amaze me. And disgust me.

Then you'd have the idiots who say John Wayne is the greatest American hero AND actor (even though he didn't fight for this country in wartime, when other actors and entertainers were doing so, and he was a horrible actor) and probably start burning their Man With No Name Betamax tapes.

Me and all. He's about the only one out there with any level of national name recognition who's crazy enough to accept the gig. Plus his mom and Mrs Romney are apparently quite tight these days.

quatchi Serious candidates are waiting for 2016....

Hillary Clinton is probably the most serious. I'm seriously.

Serious Black Ryan would probably make it worse!

For you maybe. He would be a great choice for the GOP however.

For all the Obama chest bumping in this thread (in all threads for that matter), i'd seriously re-evaluate some things because the "conventional wisdom" you've been fed isn't very wise.

I'm not trying to rain on your circle jerk.....but if the political landscape doesn't drastically change in the next few months, Barack Obama more than likely is going to lose.

No matter what the president rolls out next week, the economy will decide this election.

As far as I know, only Allen West has said he'd serve as VP. I assume Palin would also take the job. Well, for a while.

He's really the logical choice for Romney: from a swing state, props up the Conservative base and he put on a good showing in the primary.

I can't recall a presidential election where both the candidate and the VP nominee failed to win their respective home states. A Romney/Santorum ticket would probably do just that since Rmoney isn't going to win MA and the last time Santorum ran for office in PA he had his clock cleaned in a double digit loss

Except that he lost that swing state by 18% in his last election and he loses 1 independent for every conservative he brings out that wouldn't have already come out to vote against the bleh guy. Not to mention, he's just too unpredictable for Romney's image of himself as a disciplined candidate.

Pennsylvania is not a swing state.

The question in both cases is: which is their home states? Santorum's lived in Virginia for years, and since he left office, Romney's been splitting time between Utah and California (he's got 12 houses to chose from). Also, he's originally (notionally) from Michigan.

From any number of perspectives, Santorum is a terrible choice, but -rather as McCain was convinced to pick Palin over Lieberman- there seems to be a good chance that Romney will make an equally bad decision.
