Kind of surprised there isn't a "Can't shut the hell up about the Turtle" category.

Leaving out the Dark Tower series is like trying to show how all biology is connected while leaving out evolution. It only makes any sense if you're special or live in Kansas.

I'm not crazy about much of his recent work, and politically I disagree with him on occasion, but he's done a lot of good things locally.

Isn't the damn turtle dead, as of IT?

There is no turtle so there is no universe. Chart is bunk.
Next.

No, the Turtle in the form of Gan played a big role in the Dark Tower books.

I was scrolling down from the headline above and read it as 'Stephen HAWKING'...imagine my disappointment.

Besides the FC fails with out mentioning King's dislike for Christians, Nixon and conseratives, reoccuring themes in his work.

God, that chart sucked. io9 sucks too. When is Fark going to stop linking to that blogspamming piece of trash?

And connection to Soros?

King doesn't hate Christians. Many Christians hold The Stand to be an amazingly Christian novel (for good reason) and The Dark Tower novels are full of references to "The Man Jesus" in a positive way.

King just hates the American Republican version of Christians, who don't follow the teachings of the Man Jesus at all.

Bathia_Mapes: Confabulat: I'm starting to listen to old King books on audio during my bike ride to work, starting with The Shining. I havent read his early books since I was a kid so I think it should be fun to pick up a lot of the connections that didn't exist when I read them the first time.

If that chart included Dark Tower stuff it would have been about 19 times more complex.

Here's a list, likely not complete, but it will give you an idea of which non-Dark Tower books have connections to the Dark Tower series. Stephen King works related to The Dark Tower series

The list has both major and minor connections.

Huh. Look at that, that link led me to an actual photograph of Randall Flagg. I never knew that before.

donnielove: Why is "Uncle Otto's Truck" just sitting in the middle of the chart, not connected to anything else?

BECAUSE IT'S THE KEY TO EVERYTHING, MAAAAN

so..

No The Shining

No Christine

yeah way to go.. you tied it all together....

Toshiro Mifune's Letter Opener: jtown: Wow. Was it worse than Battlefield Earth?

Nah, Dreamcatcher's got NOTHIN' on Battlefield Earth.

Dreamcatcher was horrible, but Battlefield Earth wins (loses?) by a country mile.

Battlefield earth was a crime against all sentient beings.

It was good too; not so exciting if you want new adventures with Eddie and Susannah but a hell of a good story (s) anyway

I'm starting to think I should watch Battlefield Earth just to experience how bad it is. But from what I understand it's less of a "this is so bad that it's funny" movie and more of a "this is so bad I think it gave me cancer" type of thing.

It's the cancer type of thing. I saw it in the theater knowing full well that it was going to be a horrible piece of shiat but I was unprepared. I didn't just want my money back. I wanted two hours of my life back. I'd been insulted in ways I didn't know existed. I kept thinking it couldn't possibly get more absurd...but it did! I know I should have walked out but I couldn't take my eyes off the carnage. My legs wouldn't respond. I'm pretty sure this is how people get sucked into Scientology.

Robert A. Heinlein laughs at this puny multiverse. And he even explicitly brought all his various universes together under one roof in The Cat Who Walks Through Walls.

That book was terrible.

the cake is a pie: What needs revised in the last three? That was pretty much why he redid The Gunslinger, to make it fit better with the rest of the set that he didn't foresee writing at the time.

my guess is that it would lessen the degree of meta-ness of the last 3 books.Upon rereading the series recently, I felt the last 3 books were obviously written much later than the first 4 books, nor did the first 4 books really indicate that it was going in the direction of the last 3 books.

Though I guess that would make them rewritten rather than revised. I still don't see any kind of revision happening for the last 3 books.

HeartBurnKid: Bonanza Jellybean: ugly, cluttered, and full of typos.

/I think King sucks (dude even admits he "wrote" most of his books while blacked out on booze) and even I know it's "Claiborne," not "Clairborne." Twice.

Actually, a lot of his best stuff was from when he was whacked out. Dude did some great work when he was wasted. Hell, I'd say a lot of society's greatest art was created on drugs of various sorts.

/King has said, in the past, that he honestly doesn't even remember writing Cujo.

I wish I could forget reading it.

/Stopped reading King after that, it was so bad.

I just finished 11 22 63, which I thought was great. Working on Under the Dome now. Finally got around to the Bachman Books a couple of months (once I could get my hands on a copy).

Let's not forget one vital thing: The film can be redeemed with Rifftrax!

Yes finding "the bachman books" is almost impossible...
