From what I have heard over the years, she is the living embodiment of "... someone, somewhere is sick of her shiat."

I forgot about that song, great piano work. I still love Vienna though. There is just something about that song.

They could've gone all the way to the Great Wall of China, but that's not her style. Instead, they took the Downeaster Alexa to Leningrad.

Sounds like Christie Brinkley is the one going to extremes, starting the fires, making the good die young, and never likes people just the way they are.

No, that was James Taylor. You're thinking of Dan Fogelberg, who wrote "Take It Easy" for the Little River Band.

Thanks for that information. I always confuse the drummers from Queen and Supertramp. Was that before or after Steve Winwood left the LRB?

Billy Joel inflicted upon us some of the worst music ever known to man. We Didn't Start the Fire, Uptown Girl, A Matter of Trust, I Go to Extremes, Tell Her About It, and The River of Dreams are several examples. These songs aren't just bad, they're ear-achingly fingernails-on-a-chalkboard bad. They are so bad they make Sheryl Crow songs seem like high talent. Billy Joel had a few good songs early but after We Didn't Start the Fire I became a hater. I can't listen to any of his music now without hating every single particle of his being.

She couldn't handle the drinking and musician lifestyle. Both of them pretty much said that.

So, she took up with someone she thought she could control.

Oh, well.

the "Stranger" album is pretty darn great, "turnstiles" is underrated.

"52nd street" and "glass houses" are alright pop/rock albums.

But "the Iron Curtain" is really where he actually took CHANCES and did something different. his songwriting matured, experimented with different styles, a lot of the songs are great, no french crap like "you were the one".

Then he plunged everything down the crapper and threw it off the cliff with " An Innocent Man".

"Any mother in America, if you're protecting your children from someone, particularly a mother of her net worth, would you go off and do Broadway and give him the children for five months straight?"

yes, that is kind of strange. If she's an "angry, vindictive woman" as her ex claims, wouldn't she try to keep him away from the kids? Because everyone knows that that's the first thing the psycho ex-biatch does--tries to take the kids away from him. And the courts ALWAYS side with her.

But it's perfectly normal for a guy to have an affair with an 18-year old employee. He was just sick of Christie's shiat. I'm sure he has no character issues whatsoever.

Music is subjective to a small extent but Beethoven's 5th is a greater achievement than "She wears short skirts I wear sneakers" or whatever that is.

Just as a Picasso painting is better than 99% of the paintings in the world.

We Didn't Start the Fire was Billy Joel saying that he could put out anything and make millions of dollars off of it... and he did.

Billy Joel's "This Night" uses the second movement of Ludwig van Beethoven's Pathétique Sonata. Beethoven is credited as one of the song's writers on the sleeve of the album as "L.V. Beethoven".

Good song, too. Both of them, actually!

Saw Billy Joel at a show when the news of her remarriage broke.

He was commode huggin' drunk and would not stop talking about it. More like ranting bitterly about it. Like if several thousand people got to watch the meltdown you had in your dorm freshman year when what's her name dumped you and you drank a bottle of Captain Morgan and wrote songs and hurled....

Kinda, epic, in it's own way.

So men still have to write child support checks to women even when they're the caretakers for the kids?

The more I read of the divorce/family court system, the more I seem to think the the patriarchal establishment is a bigger manufactured myth than the liberal media.

InmanRoshi: So men still have to write child support checks to women even when they're the caretakers for the kids?

The more I read of the divorce/family court system, the more I seem to think the the patriarchal establishment is a bigger manufactured myth than the liberal media.

Divorce law varies from state to state, but generally speaking, no. After divorce, there's two kinds of payments that are made - child support and alimony. Child support is just that, support for the child. Whoever has the kids gets the checks, based on a formula that figures out how much the little bugger costs and who has the greater burden of care. So when you get a divorce where the mom gets the kids and the dad gets a weekend every other week and two months in the summer, the court figures up how much the kids cost, then figures up what the split of custody is, and orders the dad to pay the difference over to mom. Other factors like standard of living and employment also figure into the formula. One parent might also be charged with keeping health insurance on the kids.

Alimony (or maintenance) is different. That's a payment directly from one spouse to another that is based off the needs of the receiving spouse. Has nothing to do with the kids and is a completely separate payment, with completely separate (usually stricter) criteria. That's usually what you get when the millionaire CEO divorces the housewife after 20 years of marriage and the woman doesn't even have an associate's degree. It's not really that common of an award, as the court generally expects the receiving party to get off their ass and pay their own way pretty damn quick. Child support, on the other hand, is supposed to be used for the kids, and the spouse receiving it can be in deep shiat if they're not doing the right thing with the money.

A Billy Joel song that kicks ass.

Yeah, he's recorded a few turds. But he's also got plenty of good ones out there. Also, the man has a sick amount of talent.
