(NASCAR)   Can Juan Pablo Montoya complete the first ever NASCAR weekend sweep by former F1 drivers, or start taking out jet dryers instead? They call it Infineon, but its still Sears Point, damnit. Commercials... er, coverage begins on TNT at 3:00p ET   (nascar.com ) divider line
More: Interesting, NASCAR, Infineon, Sears Point

Hi AJ... it's me Kyle.... *wave, wave, BUMP*

Nice save by Wise!

2012-06-24 04:16:34 PM

DanZero: ClavellBCMI: TNT can't talk about the leaders, they just *have* to mention the schlubs in the middle of the pack, or race strategy, or the track, or "back in the day", or the cars themselves.

TNT would have been at home last night in Iowa for the IndyCar race, there were no leaders to speak of by the finish

"I survived driving in the IndyCar race in Iowa in 2012, and all I got was an "also ran" mention!"

The Bestest: Dumb-Ass-Monkey: god, i cannot stand the Black Napoleon Dynamite commercial

oh good, I'm not the only one that calls it that

At least it's not the John Force Castrol one over and over and over....

2012-06-24 04:17:06 PM

catastrophe averted: Raise your hand if you miss the Fox announcers. Jeez, these TNT guys suck. Now I know why I keep muting it for PRN, even though they aren't synched to the TV screen.

Meh, this beats listening to DW pee his pants over his favorites. If it weren't for the fact Larry Mac is on TNT, this broadcasting crew would be superior to FOX and ESPN.

you hit 160 at the bottom of the S's, and have to dial it down to about 35.

That's why Turns 10 and 11 lead to so many of the wrecks on the track.

2012-06-24 04:17:35 PM
I would make a Wise-crack about the 26, but that was just a damn nice save.

Do we not have a Boris foot cam this year?

donnielove: Do we not have a Boris foot cam this year?

Nope, driving for a single-car team with no sponsor. What would be the point?

The Bestest: Well ESPN has Watkins Glen.. wonder if they can top TNT's coverage today

Top it with commercials, yes. Last year's Glen thread (redux) was a lot of fun, let me see if I can find it.

Yes, here it is (also has bonus IndyCar New Hampshire coverage with Will Power's famous 2 finger salute to America)

catastrophe averted: Larry Mac needs to retire. NOW. No more talking. I don't care about his opinion on anything any more.

I remember when he used to do his race analysis with an easel and a marker. It was quaint.

Wasn't that long ago...

Maybe he was talking about that horrible "50 people playing with their phones" music.

In which case, he's right.

Where's TKat and the idol? The #2 position in this race is not what I wanted to see at this point......

Oh wow, last year ESPN gave us a while you were away lead change, as well as the AT&T flash mob ad twice in one break.

GOOD times, right.

I'm hoping they find a new, even more annoying commercial to entertain us with this race season. They have plenty of time to sink to a new low before their coverage starts.

I still think the KFC side dish duel is getting pretty close to becoming this year's representative

Thanks to the rampant cynicism of this weekly thread, I've discovered the joys of rooting against drivers, rather than for them.

Johnson's not on the list this week.

J. Gordon is, though. And da Biff.

...and Logano...

oh. and both Busches..

...etc.

The race itself actually isn't that bad.. it's just that we don't get to actually see it.
