Alonso is really on fire in this race. Really amazing how many spots he's gained.

OUCH! G'bye Hamilton.

2012-06-24 01:56:21 PM
I think Hamilton has only himself to blame for that crash.

Wow. Another crazy Grand Prix.

I totally thought Kimi had a chance there for a bit, but Alonso is earning that giant paycheck.

Lewis, for future reference....when you can't keep race pace for the last few laps, wouldn't it be better to maybe take a 5th instead of a DNF? But act mad, that will maybe fool your mind into thinking you got "robbed".

Yes.

And yes!

Well that started off incredibly dull and got incredibly interesting. I am torn between delirious joy at Vettel going out and frustrated ire at farking Maldonado doing his farking Maldonado schtick again.

Wow! What a Race! Poor Vettel...absolutely dominating to have his car blow up. Schumi and Webber storming through the pack with Scumi getting a podium! This season has been incredible so far...

So here's the deal: Maldonado gets a retroactive drive-thru penalty that takes his point away and gives it to his teammate Senna. For blatantly knocking Hamilton out of the race, he loses a single standings point, and no penalty at Silverstone.

Contrast that with Kobiyashi taking a 5-place grid drop for making wheel-to-wheel contact with Heikki, or Vergne's incident which warranted a ten-place grid penalty. But apparently this is only worth 20 seconds.

That wreck was Hamilton's fault all the way. Should be a 10 place grid penalty for the next race.

You sound like a steward.

It was either get smashed into or get a blocking penalty. Which... eh... whar blocking penalty... whar?

I don't know if it was Humphrey or Coulthard who said, "all four wheels were off the track; a driver is supposed to concede the position if that's the case."

No it wasn't. If you leave the track it is your responsibility to rejoin the track in a safe manner, end of. Driving into the side of another car is not a safe return to the track.

Was it a hard move to push Maldonado off the track? Yes it was but Maldonado was behind Hamilton and Hamilton had the racing line so was entitled to keep it.

Exactly. Just because the other car has pulled up alongside you while completely over the curbs does not require you to give way in the slightest. Maldonado got infected with a case of terminal dumbass, clawing for a possible third and wound up taking both himself and Lewis out. Dumb move, period.

And frankly, if I were Lewis, I'd be kicking the ass of my pitcrew once again for farking up yet another stop- seriously, a broken jack AND a stuck wheel? Christ, even Marussia did better than that.

I usually can't stand Alonso, but he motherfarking EARNED this one today, and I was happy to hear him speak so eloquently (for him) about his fellow countrymen and how they need every little bit of encouragement right now. Good job Fernando- outstanding drive, maturely handled.

I used to detest Alonso for his whiny, toys-out-of-pram-throwing, advantage-demanding and possibly-colluding-in-cheating-scandals personality, but I've developed a grudging respect for his sheer brilliance. The fact that he's leading the championship in a relatively crap car makes me wonder why anyone else will bother turning up when Ferrari finally come up with something decent.

He's still a cock, though.

Agreed. McLaren seems determined to destroy Hamilton's chances with one screwed-up pit stop after another. And WTF is going on with Button? He's much better than that.

When I saw Maldonado leave the track and then smash back into Hamilton, I was immediately reminded of Spa 2008, where Kimi shoves Lewis wide going into the chicane. Lewis realized he was screwed, cut the chicane, and rejoined safely. (We'll ignore the rest of the debate for now.)

Had Lewis swung his wheel to the right and punted Kimi off the track, the stewards, the media, and fans would be calling for his head.

Yet when the situation is reversed and Lewis pushes someone off the track, all of a sudden it's his fault when the other car fails to rejoin safely? Bullshiat.

I want a video editor plugin that will let me put any livery on any car. I want to put Massa's livery on Hamilton's car, and Hamilton's livery on Maldonado's car, and upload that to YouTube. I just want to see the WHAARRRRGABL!! of Lewis-haters scream that Lewis should be punished for punting Massa off the track.
