If I was still 12, some of those would be pretty cool.

2012-06-23 07:50:26 AM
I'd think Paris Hilton should be on this list, but they said it had to be awesome, too.

It would have been fun to have a bunch of those flying superheroes things on Harold Camping's Rapture Day.

Millennium Falcon Guitar.

Holy crap that is awesome.

DON'T SMOKE CIGARETTES, JUST MARIJUANA

that's akin to saying "don't have sex, just kiddy rape"

The island of Lanai? Only $500 million.

The desk cup holder doesn't seem particularly useless, expensive, or awesome.

I had the same reaction.

I'm looking at my desk, and there's a glass sitting on top of the desk. The glass contains a drink which I have placed inside of it. I think my desk is doing a fine job of propping up this glass without the aid of a cupholder.

8. Mobile Land Fortress - Retail Price: $20,000

Be cheaper to buy an used Herkimer Battle Jitney from a scrapyard or government surplus auction.

Cool. I get my yearly bonus on Monday and was looking to blow it on something stupid. This fits the bill nicely.

2012-06-23 01:34:24 PM
Expensive as hell, yes, but some of those have some sort of utility. If I had a pool and it was sufficiently deep enough I'd really love that rock climbing wall thing. Be a nice way to exercise in a different way. The sink fishbowl thing is pretty cool, too, but I can not for the life of me imagine why it would cost over four thousand dollars. A glass aquarium of that shape and with those dimensions with a modification in the middle to connect to piping doesn't strike me as something that should cost that much. But I didn't design it, nor am I selling it, so I am probably wrong in assuming it should be cheaper than that. The keg/arcade machine is definitely something I'd buy.

Yep. Came here to say replace it with a 3d printer at about two to ten grand, depending on size and features.

Though I will say the cup holder is a bit overpriced for what it is.

I can get a cheeseburger bed for way less than 25g..

2012-06-23 01:37:08 PM
I feel like I could make a cheeseburger bed for a lot less than 20k. That fabric looks incredibly cheap.

I can't afford any of this stuff. I'm saving up to buy some Monster Cables. The guy at Best Buy said I really needed them.

BTW, the JL421 Badonkadonk has been around awhile and has great reviews on Amazon. Scroll down to Billy Bob McRobert's for some comedy gold. (Or at least comedy pyrite.) I wonder what his Fark handle is...

Make sure you get the unidirectional ones. You don't want any harmful back-EMF from your Bose speakers.

And don't forget the warranty. With that oxygen free copper, any slight crack in the shielding could degrade your signal.

According to Kris Humphries, this ranks high in the "expensive and worthless" department:

However, if you'd ask KardASShian, Humphries wasn't any prize either.

What kind of rationalization is that? Tobacco is a poisonous leaf that causes cancer + blood pressure elevation, comes in 20-40 convenient death sticks a day, all that awesome odor associated with smokers, the tar teeth and yellow fingers, for no real buzz. To look cool maybe? (Why do people smoke tobacco again?)

Cannabis is a harmless relaxant and extremely versatile medicine with anti cancer properties. "Whoa, dude, what?" stereotype aside, cannabinoids present in "marijuana" (what an ugly name for the cannabis plant and flower) can actually INHIBIT cancer growth, and we all know the extreme benefits of cannabis use in appetite stimulation for chemo patients who otherwise can't eat, excellent sleep aid for people with sleep disorders, glaucoma, pain relief, anxiety, depression, alcohol step down tool, etc.

I mean, "Oh noes he's smoking that happy plant that relaxes him, lets put him in jail and throw away the key!"

When I was a kid, expensive stuff was something new, or better. It did something cool. My first VCR cost nearly a month's take home pay, but did mean I could record TV or watch movies.

Today, never think "oh wow, that's amazing" at the expensive stuff. Tell me some new games console has double the frame rate and I'm like "meh" and wait for it to come down in price.

The only thing I spend more money on is food and holidays.

On topic, if that levitating lamp wasn't incredibly expensive I'd order one right now...

Because I like to sit outside with my dog and my pipe.

The trouble is that all this stuff is like fun for 10 minutes. And at what, $2000, I'd rather order a high class escort or a bottle of Romanee-Conti.

My reaction was: A full third of those frets are inaccessible, and that little satellite dish wouldn't make it past the first verse of"Johnny B. Goode", let alone any Metallica.

/totally a wall-hanging. Just 'cause it's got a neck, doesn't make it an instrument.
//Guitars aren't art, they're tools for art. Would'ja buy a fancified paint brush?

The flying superheroes are cool but I'd rather freak out people at the park with a flying cat.

And they left one thing out of the list. A few years ago Sharper Image was selling a full size Alien statue (7' 7'') for about $5,000. Other places sell them now. What better to greet your guests in the foyer.
