Sigh. I wouldn't say that there is much reason to be encouraged that he's testing the water with his toe.

Quitting while at the top of his game was an incredibly brave move.

And a smart one.

Either that or you really farking hate calvin and hobbes.

This meets with my approval. Not that Watterson knows(or cares).

The new artwork does look like a young Jerry Sandusky...

Subby doesn't deserve that.

Anyone want to catch Subby up on what's been going on this past year?

rocinante721

So what are the odds of him getting raped & shivved?

I'd say "pretty good right now".

He might save himself if he can do a better painting of Hobbes.

I recall a cartoon or something to the effect of "Bill Watterson has been drawing a Calvin & Hobbes cartoon daily ever since he quit the strip, and throwing them away".

Any ideas?

If my apartment caught fire, my Calvin and Hobbes box set would be the first thing I'd rescue after the cats.

Calvin and Hobbes isn't coming back. In fact, for all of you wishing it would come back, consider this... If Watterson had continued the strip, like Schulz did with Peanuts, you would have grown to hate it and wish that he had ended it in 1995. And then, if it were to come back, you'd complain that it wasn't just the same old cartoons you enjoyed rehashed over and over again, and how it isn't the same as it used to be, and that Watterson sucks now and he should have stayed retired.

Sure, it would be nice if he allowed some merchandise, but Calvin and Hobbes is done, over with, ain't coming back. Deal with it, and be happy the creator is intelligent and principled enough to let a good work stand on its own without feeling the need to rape it over and over for this month's cash grab.

Calvin and Hobbes is perfect, and nothing Mr. Watterson does or doesn't do will ever change that.

The painting in TFA is weird, but it's none of my beeswax.

Bill Watterson's a douchebag. He shoud've gone the Jim Davis route and kept the strip alive with a team of talented artists.

Garfield is alive and thriving because Jim Davis had the INTEGRITY that Bill lacks.

Me no like

Is like that strip where Calvin is talking to Hobbes how the medicines are taking effect and he needs to focus, next frame, Hobbes goes normal plushie

//don't freaking postt it! is depressing as hell

Of course, I want to click the link, but you don't have to be a dick about it subby.

This unsold news.

I love comic strips more than anyone. Cul de Sac is onE one the best current strips.

Everyone thinks comic strips are dead and the newspaper strip doesn't mean anythings these days. They are wrong. There are a lot of amazing comic strips these days. I am currently working on a comic strip and hope that my character will
One day share the page with Pearls Before Swine, Get Fuzzy, and Cul De Sac.

Rock and roll, Bill!

Well, he ended everything and put all the nails in the coffin, and then this image pours ten tons of cement on that. No need for any more Calvin adventures that don't take place in your head

I honestly credit that cartoon for most of my outlook on life. Some may scoff, but read the sh*t... All of it. You have to live life to get the full experience, but that cartoon, when I was 8-15/17ish... man. That guy really nailed it.

F*ck religion. Bill Watterson taught me all I need to know about being respectful of people and the world around you and enjoying life as it comes. Great parenting was the major contributor, but Bill laid it all out in a form that a kid could get.

I have the entire series in three bound volumes. If ever I procreate, that is their assigned reading, if they like it. You have to be absorbed by it. I would be on the wait list every time he had a new anthology coming out.

He took comics to a new level. One we will likely never see again in my lifetime.

I'm glad he stopped when he did, but I'm sad every time I look at the comics and it's just filled with a load of f*cking crap. The man transcended his genre.

It's on DeviantArt but I rehosted it just in case, hopefully the artist won't mind.

Ya, this one, but I guess I'm stating that I am reconsiled with Watterson having nothing more to do with C&H. There's plenty more but you can pick and choose; not so if he should choose to submit substandard crap.
