Not if you have to sell them for health insurance.

That 's what I thought, but it looks like there are people out there who would fall for this sort of thing:

Meh. Most weddings I get invited to these days offer "donations" to a nonprofit as an option instead of a gift. I can see what they're going for here but it is kind of silly to try to inject politics into what should be a happy day for everyone involved. All you need is the bride's crazy uncle Jimmy from the mines to come rolling in yelling tea party slogans and bandying his pistol around while the groom's younger pothead brother Stoobie starts going all occupier on the alter.

First off, your blog sucks.

Secondly, your sucky blog asks in its most annoying Chandler Bing way, "could he be any more pompous?"

I'm going to go ahead and assume you have a higher than room temperature IQ, (which is a bit of a gamble on my part,) and ask the following:

Do you really think this was the president's idea?

BTW, selling framed photographs of George W Bush looking out a window on AF1 on September 11, 2001 for $150 a piece is FAR more tacky and tasteless than this.

Actually, this is ON the Obama/Biden web page. So his campaign thought it was a good idea.

This is a really bad idea for raising money from a common sense PR kinda way.

Alcohol, future in-laws and politics. The perfect storm.

So? The "Get Involved" section on Romney's website encourages his worshippers to create their very own fundraising pages ("Set your own goals, share it with friends, and monitor your progress") that accept credit card donations for his campaign.

Funny, I don't see any conservatives here complaining about THAT.

True. Both sides' ideas for raising $$$ are tacky, but of course conservatives are only outraged when the other guy does it.

You could say the same thing about liberals. I'm not one for politics anymore but I've heard enough "but but but bush!" or "but but but Clinton!" or "But but but Reagan!" or "but but but Carter!" to last a lifetime...

There's no flour in Red-Eye Gravy, but you go on with your bad self.

So will this be the fake outrage of the weekend as Weasel Zippers hopes, or will the Daily Caller rush in with a hard-sitting expose on Michelle Obama's choice of foot care or lack thereof?

A politician is asking for donations. Wow, never seen that before.

/ Kinda tacky, but then I tend to think all of this fund raising stuff is. Public financing of elections would be much better, but clearly impossible in America.

Tacky.

Of course, political fundraising generally is.

But this is just tone-deaf.

I don't know about you, but I think that would be a fun wedding to attend, especially if the bride and groom had an open bar. Crazy brawls between family members whom are meeting for the first time is a great recipe for an immortal Youtube video.

That said, yeah, this is a tacky and dumb idea.

I don't know as there's really any good way to beg for money. Even the fancy events always feel slightly dirty to me.
