you know, I disagree with Mayor Booker on somethings. But I have nothing but the ut most respect for the man. I would be honored to meet him....Oh wait this is FARK......WHY ISN"T HE AT CITY HALL TRYING TO FIX THINGS>>>>HE NEEDS TO QUIT CRISING AROUND PLAYING SUPERMAN AND BE A DAMNED MAYOR..

Clearly the man has no clue how to handle the public safety crisis plaguing Newark. He seems to have no answers other than a scattershot approach that's really good for nothing other than convienent photo-ops. In fact, his actions could be interpreted as being firmly against the greater public well-being, suggesting that "he who helps others helps himself" is better than a well thought, comprehensive program designed to combat these safety issues at their source.

/Seriously, who elected this guy?!?

Why do I get a feeling this guy is going to get fast tracked for federal-level politics.

HA!!!

His party distanced themselves from him because he called the Democrats on their selective history regarding Bain Capital (specifically he used their examples against them, as they cherry picked the info). I may not like Romney, and I may not like Bain Capital, but I have to tip my cap to the guy in the opposing party who calling his own people out on cheap political trickery.

He seems to walk the walk, and you can't help but respect that no matter which side of the aisle you're on.

Say what you will of the man, but he's a hands-on mayor.

I travel through Newark everyday on the train to NYC and I have never seen so much building and urban gentrification as I seen under this guy. Keep going Cory

Am I the only that read the article headline as "Newark mayor says he helped injure pedestrian", leaving off a d makes it a completely different story.

Booker is a great guy and is doing some really positive things for newark, and a good part of that is because he isn't afraid to call out his own side of the house for dumb crap.

Granted, my dog could have done a better job running newark than Sharpe James did all of those years.

Not wanting to be outdone, Governor Chris Christie heroically traveled from his bed to his bathroom without the aid of a taxpayer-funded helicopter.

Yeah, the problem with Newark isn't that it's a horrible place. It's that it's a horrible place that's been allowed to languish for so damn long... anyone thinking that Booker can fix everything is insane. He needs like-minded people, and frankly there aren't many in the state who can help him on that front.

It's not a R/D thing. It's a "politicians who actually believe that they're supposed to represent their constituents and have the ability to effect change" thing.

Yes, I'm a few exits away on Rt 78.... and he can be Batman if we can all agree that Newark is the dive that Gotham was in Batman Returns.... or maybe Raccoon City in Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Either way, I'm sure we can all agree that he's 1000% better than Sharpe James.

I disagree with the concept that is possible to fully state how much better Cory Booker is than Sharpe James with words and numbers.

I hate how this guy used modesty to plant mines of selflessness all around his city over the years so his virtuousness blows us off our feet, taking a leg with it, and elevates him into heroism. I see through the ruse, this guy is insidiously cunning.

I can't believe I'm hearing good things about Newark. He must be a decent mayor for that to happen.

2012-06-22 08:58:13 PM
Hm.

I live in an Orange County suburb and drive on heavily traveled roads and freeways every day. I've never seen either a house on fire where the residents needed rescuing, or a pedestrian run over in the street right in front of me.

So either this mayor is incredibly unlucky and it spreads to the people around them...or I have to ask how he's getting to all these dire accidents all the time and before fire and PD even know about them.
