Doesn't this happen all the time in Arizona? I'm sure I've read stories about idiots hiking out in the desert and shooting at cacti just for yuks, then dying when the cactus falls on them.

Or maybe it was idiot Canadians and icicles...can't remember.

That's a pretty tall cactus. If it fell over it would become a bobcatapult.

Saguaro cactuses can weigh anywhere from hundreds of pounds to more than several thousand pounds, depending on how much water they're holding.

I know some women like that too.

City cactus?
Probably full of water.
That's like having a stack of rain barrels full of water with nails sticking out hit you.

"City officials say William Mason was responding to an emergency water leak Tuesday in a Yuma subdivision."

Bet he was responding to a few emergency leaks afterwards.

Did they fine him afterwards for messing with a protected cactus?

Yuma: where the population never changes, because every time a girl gets pregnant, a guy leaves town.
Yuma: where the "Welcome to Yuma" sign and the "Now Leaving Yuma" sign are nailed to the same post.
Yuma: where the 7-11 is only a 3-5.
Yuma: where the town square only has 3 sides.

Enjoyed living in Yuma. Those cactii can weight about 100 lbs per foot.

You can get this postcard in any store in Arizona:

When I moved to AZ years ago, the old timers warned me about doing any sort of yard work or landscaping (because the desert needs landscaping, yo!) around saguaros due to their tendency to drop an arm or two for no apparent reason. A 6' arm can weigh hundreds of pounds. They also like to explode during brush fires and lightning strikes so we have nature's terrorists with spiny IEDs. Lovely.

The photo of the bobcat on top of the saguaro strikes me as the honey badger's AZ cousin. Hailing from Arizona... kick...
