There are normally people smoking weed downtown when I come out of the bus tunnel to catch another bus. There are also usually (thankfully) police hanging around down there too. Nobody here gives a shiat about weed.

I do like the cops hanging around downtown. There are some incredibly farked up people wandering around this city and pot aint the problem. Alcohol, meth, mental illness on the other hand...

I think people are the problem, not drugs.

My dentist when I was a kid got caught doing cocaine in the parking lot at the police station. He managed to keep his license.

Then there was the dentist I had who got caught trading pain killer scripts for alcohol. But that's another story.

One of these is a hand-rolled cigarette photo, the other is a joint. Can you tell the difference?

Ocean City was kind of a scuzzhole when we visited. Pot smoking seems pretty innocuous compared what to the meth-loving creeps we encountered were in to.

/Ending a sentence with a preposition is the only way to go.

Yes. But a person with a bad/faulty disposition and drunk or high on aggressive type drugs is a bad combination.

If you must smoke pot, do not smoke it in public move to San Francisco, the police don't care. They might even ask for a hit.

During a vehicle search, officers said several bags of marijuana, paraphernalia and dextroamphetamine -- a schedule I controlled dangerous substance -- were discovered.

Ooh danger danger! Marijuana is schedule I as well, why did they feel the need to differentiate the meth?

Meh, when I was young and reckless I did it on the boardwalk benches in Ocean City while the bicycle cops rode bye. It was always pretty late at night so I assume they said fark it. Pretty sure had I done it in the middle of the day they would have tried to make an example of me.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that those fine young men will, sooner or later, have their pictures on Fark again. That's some powerful, weapons grade stupid right there.

A good friend of mine who is a cop in MA really likes the change to the laws when it comes to weed. Someone smoking a joint out on the Boston Common? NBD. Walk over, "Dude, put that shiat out, will you?" and on his merry way. If the person gives him lip? Write a ticket, confiscate, walk away. He said the only time he's had to actually bust someone for less than an ounce of weed was a dumbass who was driving along, puffing away at a blunt, and pulled up next to the cop at a set of lights. The dude got angry and indignant due to the small amount of weed. "Hey, farknuts... You're behind the farking wheel. That's OUI."

Of course, the guy behind the wheel also had 3 active warrants and a BOP that read like a manual on "How To Land Your Sorry Ass In Jail".

I'll never forget the time a buddy of mine obviously lit up a joint and smoked it right in front of an SFPD officer.

Needless to say, nothing happened. I doubt the officer even noticed.

I am color blind, and even I can tell.

...and even though the headline and first sentence say they were caught smoking, I doubt they actually were. Most stuff these days has a very strong, tell-tale smell, even when double bagged, but it's easy for a smoker to get so accustomed to it that they don't realize their clothes, car, and even whole house smells like a skunk. The reporter sounds a bit naive.

Reminds me of an apartment complex lived in, in a nice little town on the outskirts of the metro area. Some college-aged guys moved next door and loved to smoke pot out on their balcony. I finally caught their attention one fine evening when I was downwind, and clued them in to the fact that, not only was this not college housing or a dormitory, but a police officer actually lived in the neighboring building. Poor kids, I hated to bring reality to their door, but better me than the county sheriff.
