I wouldn't want that job. This guy has no chance and the government even less of a chance to pull all this together without the backing of the population. The population is so used to getting handouts that they'll sink with the ship rather than take less. Greece reminds me of unions fighting for more pay when the company they're working for is losing billions a year. All common sense is out the window on this one.

That ship is gonna sink either way. The question is, will they remain slaves to the bondholders for the next decade, or fark them over?

I think I can predict how this will go...

Metaphor doesn't work. When a company is losing billions is exactly when executives get golden handshakes like mad. Employees get the shaft - executives get their contract buyout options exercised.

Your metaphor doesn't exactly fit either. We're not talking about a standalone company, we're talking about a sovereign nation with it's own standing military and citizenry. It isn't like if a company goes bust the exec parachute away and everyone else is just left to find another job, in this case if a NATION goes bust, everyone else is left to survive for themselves with a monetary system that would be virtually worthless, and the standing military (who may or may not be getting paid) is virtually left to their own devices under whatever skeleton of a government remains.

Finance minister of Greece is not the worst job you could have. You'd have a longer life expectancy than the #2 Al Qaeda man, and a better retirement plan than the Pope.

The same country that was very close to saving itself - by leaving the EU - but chose to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
