Chuckled, because I saw what you did, there, then I read TFA, which was probably updated after submission.

Authorities say a 3-year-old Alabama girl has died after a truck crashed into a West Memphis funeral home where the child and her family were attending a visitation.

I don't doubt that the Police Chief believes Damion Echols is behind it somehow....

Maybe it was pre-emptive zombie control?

/Ok, still not funny

TFA:Authorities say the driver may have suffered a medical condition that caused her to careen off the road and into the building. The police chief says investigators don't believe drugs or alcohol were involved.

The funny part is this lady is going to struggle with knowing she killed a three year old by something that is really no fault of her own. Just wait, did I say funny, I meant sad. We should all frown at subby.

Makes me think of third-grade humor--which I think about frequently. Funny as a screen door in a submarine; funny as a fart in a spacesuit; funny as a rubber crutch . . .

This has been on the local news. Apparently the driver has a long history of having seizures, and had one when this happened.

So what's the answer? Do we tell the seizure-prone they can't drive, or tell the public that the right of the seizure-prone to drive outweighs their right to not be randomly run down? This is not a troll. I'm curious as to what other people think about it. And by people, of course, I mean "the sort of crazies who hang out on FARK."

The act of regulating it would create an opportunity for lawsuits for failure to properly regulate.

An old friend of my Dad had two seizures in his life...and BOTH were while driving (the episodes were a good handful of years apart from each other). I guess the first one just ended up with him (safely) in a corn field or something similar, but on the second one the car veered into oncoming traffic and while he ended up relatively unscathed, the driver of the car he hit perished.

That does have to be a f*cked up kind of guilt to carry around with you...killing someone while you weren't even cognizant during the event.

I have a friend who is epileptic and she had her license taken away after her first seizure. I think she was able to reapply once she was medicated and had gone some period seizure free.

At least it happened at a funeral home, so they won't have to take her very far.

/Window seat, please.

So should the seizure-prone be required to carry extra insurance, or provide some sort of proof of continuing meds to keep their licenses? Normally I'm all for government having as small of a footprint as possible, but the potential for accident, grievous hrm and/or death seems to me to be one of those narrowly-defined areas where perhaps a bit of limited regulation might do more good than harm.

And then again, if you're talking a single parent, financially disadvantaged, in an area like Memphis metro, which is so spread out as to make public transportation a dodgy prospect at best, wouldn't that be dooming the person to being unable to provide for themselves and kids?

Life can be tricky, sometimes.

So, on Fark it's okay to make fun of children with Down Syndrome, but not dead children. Glad to know where the line is.

Hey, I guess my mom was right, little kids shouldn't attend wakes or funerals.

Unless they are dead children with downs syndrome. Then it's funny again.

Headline is a little raw, even by Fark standards.

I feel real bad for laughing at that but he's right, West Memphis is a hole. It makes Memphis look good in comparison and that is a pretty hard feat to pull off.

Um,

Headlines are free to be taken out of context, creating their own context by existing on the Main, no?

Don't answer.

I lived in Memphis for some time, and it is indeed very hard to pull off. Somehow they found a way.

Jackson, MS is another city that's been able to make Memphis look good by comparison as well.

Quite impressive to pull off if I must say.

West Memphis is a stain that not even Memphis wants to claim proximity towards.

Fun Fact: You're more likely to be assaulted, raped, or murdered in West Memphis than in the ghettoiest parts of ghettoland in Memphis.

As a person who currently works in West Memphis, I feel it necessary to warn every Farker out there that if you find the need to come here for any reason whatsoever, DON'T. Kill yourself first, it's a far better fate. I can't even go so far as to call West Memphis the arsehole of the country, it's worse than that. It's more like the countries very own drug resistant STD.

/STAY AWAY
//One more year and I'll hopefully be out of here

West Memphis is really just a giant truck stop. So yeah, that figures.
