Romney 2012: Details To Be Released Later

2012-06-22 09:53:17 AM
The narrator goes on to list familiar aspects of Romney's platform: repealing President Barack Obama's sweeping health care law, working toward balancing the federal budget, and reducing the debt.

And Romney will do that by increasing defense spending $7T while reducing revenues $6T over the next 10 years.

Vote for the fiscally conservative party. Yep.

2012-06-22 09:55:00 AM
That worked for Nixon, and the Eepublican Party still has a lot of the same people around.

Tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans.
Tax increases and program cuts for the poorest Americans.
Bring back the glory days of the Gilded Age where workers, women and minorities knew their place.

You can't be accused of changing positions if you refuse to take a position.

James!: You can't be accused of changing positions if you refuse to take a position.

What bugs me is they clearly had meetings that they decided to do exactly that. They had to have intentionally decided to never give another detail because people were mad he couldn't take a position.

The banking industry in NC needs help? We need more tech jobs? Seriously? All the tech professionals I know are doing just fine. Now the guys I know in manufacturing and construction are double farked.

Oh I get it, those guys are the poors.

Unfortunately for Mitt, one needs a personality to pull that off, though...

...and I'm not sure the Kerry Campaign is something Romney wants to be emulating.

It's not like there's a website dedicated to tracking the positions Obama took during the election and his performance on those promises. I mean aside from Politifact.

Finally saw my first campaign ad last night on Fox Sports North. A typical scaremongering "washington bureaucrat between you and your doctor" bullshiat ad. Paid for by a dubious SuperPAC of course, Women for health awareness legislative action committee or some dumb shiat. Attacks Obama, attacks HCR, but doesn't waste time actually proposing any kind of reasonable alternative or anything. Just says it's going to add over a trillion to the deficit.

I love campaign season....

I see a billboard to and from work every day that has a wrecking ball with EPA written on it, bolded "job killing regulations" and so many more words it's unreadable unless you're stuck in traffic for a good long time. I must say the image of the EPA as a wrecking ball makes me chuckle every time.

Sorry Romney, I can't take your word that you can do better when your farking party has been acting like obstructionist fascists for the last 3 years who's only real stances have been penis goes where legislation, tax breaks for the rich with tax increases for middle and lower income, and some farked up argument that we need to maintain our defense spending at levels required to fight 2 farking wars during peace time. You lose.

So basically Romney is doing the same EXACT thing Obama did in 2008.

I still find it hilarious that the retard brigade now hates the EPA without question. Despite the fact they seem to not know exactly what they do.

Again the Democrats did that for 7 years under Bush, why don't you open your eyes. Each party does the same exact thing. Get over it.

Sounds like Romney is using Obama's "Hope and Change" slogan!
Hey, if people bought into it before they will surely do it again.....

For those that RTFA, he actually does have a couple of proposals in his ads.

1) Oil drilling will be permitted off the coast of Virginia
2) Obamacare will be repealed

Now, whether or not those two moves achieve any of the desired outcomes, that's up for debate, but don't say he didn't propose things.

The narrator goes on to list familiar aspects of Romney's platform: repealing President Barack Obama's sweeping health care law, working toward balancing the federal budget, and reducing the debt.

You can't just wholesale repeal the health care law. Among other things, it contains all of the authorizations for Medicare spending that are necessary for them to make payments to doctors.

As for balancing the budget and reducing the debt, please note that he wants us to spend about $2.5 trillion more on national defense (as cited by a recent Cato Institute report) and will not explain how he will make his $4.5 trillion tax cut plan revenue neutral, so you can expect that he will increase the debt by $7 trillion over the next ten years compared to Obama and wants to make it impossible for us to reduce the debt or balance the budget.

Whats with the 'just like Obama!' talking point? It's not like Obama didn't have a list of things he wanted to do and a site to track promises he made.

Romney has literally said nothing about what he will do to fix things, he just keep labeling everything Obama bad, without saying why.

2012-06-22 12:28:10 PM
This rings of 2008's McCain bid - I can fix things, but won't tell you how till I'm president. Look how well that worked out for him.

It didn't help that Caribou Barbie was his running mate though.

2012-06-22 12:29:12 PM

Antimatter: Romney has literally said nothing about what he will do to fix things, he just keep labeling everything Obama bad, without saying why.

Not totally accurate...

He did lay out an anemic plan to cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans and raise them on the poorest Americans so they can have, "some skin in the game"... Just not that golden brown skin you get from visiting your money in the Cayman Islands.

RTFA, and have seen a couple of the ads. They're fluff, but they're a lot more positive than the ones the Obama campaign is running. They've largely been replaced, here, though, with "the private sector is doing fine."

But those two points you mention may very well be OBE by the time the election rolls around.

2012-06-22 12:31:14 PM
It's a strategy that's served him well so far.

Difficulty: you have to mock the candidate's actual religion.

He also said he's going to drastically increase military funding. So I guess vote for Romney if you want another fiscal conservative to add trillions more to our debt.

Yes, Obama made no campaign promises whatsoever. Oh, wait...

As much as Republicans harp about it "hope and change" as not the sole extent of his platform.

2012-06-22 12:41:44 PM
But he was working on his policies all night. Staffers said he was on his tablet... oh...
