Canobie Lake is generally failsauce. Unless they made some serious improvements in the last 15 years. I recall it as a 70s theme park that hadn't realized it was the late 90s.

I think they are talking about the actual lake -- not the theme park.

And the theme park isn't so bad for a seasonal, northern New England outfit.

Help me, Obi-Wan Canobie, you're my only....glub..sputter......

I grew up going to the theme park a few times a year, it's the best New England had to offer.

They completely redid the theme park over the last couple of years. Brand new huge waterpark was added, lots of new rides, and the bathrooms are brand new as well. There's still that odd 70s feel, but I think that has to do more with the overall layout of the park than anything else.

It's a great park to take smaller kids to....bigger kids may get bored after about 1/2 a day.

It's been greatly improved. It was pretty bad in the 90s. Over the last decade or so it's gotten much better -- so much so that 6 Flags made some very serious offers to buy it up. The owners (wisely, I think) decided to keep it private. It has much less corporate/merchandised feel than the big parks. A great place for 6-8 hour excursion.
Has the oldest still-running wooden coaster too, if I remember correctly.

Umm....I think this is not so much "news" as an annual summer thing. People regularly get hurt here. Not only in the lake area but the theme park every year too. (The rides were horrible. Before the re-do some of the rides machinery were held together with zip ties & giant rubber bands)

/Granted I'm just a Masshole so what do I know. Just leave my money at the border & GTHO

I live in NH and don't recall any recent injuries or accidents at Canobie Lake Park. When I googled it, the most recent was from 2001. Not sure what you're talking about.

My dad's company always had their company picnic there when I was a kid. I haven't gone since I started being the one who had to shell out the money to get in. It still surprises me that people come from far away for such a sad little park. It's not horrible, but I haven't really missed going.

My cousin and I did the same thing.

Canobie always reminded me of one of those places you see in a Grade B SyFy horror movie. Years ago (in the 70's), I remember two snowmobiles being lost under the ice one Winter. Only one person survived.

Canobie Park. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

I worked there 2 summers, made the mistake of complaining about the drive from nashua, tried to get a local job, didn't pan out. Old Man Bernie himself said "You no-a wanna work here, you no-a come-a back" Hand to flying spaghetti monster, that's exactly how he said it.

Actually gave it some thought this year, but have too many obligations back home to work open to close 6 days a week.
