Romney is doing a great job of that himself

His new campaign slogan might as well be Romney 2012: Policy to be explained later.

Well, he has taken a quantum superposition on a lot of issues, so you have to give him credit for that.

To be fair, thus far Romney has produced some of the best campaign ads for the President. Really nice of him, considering how much he already spent before the Primary...

Or when he starts a war for no reason that results in nearly 4500 dead and 32,000 wounded Americans.

Obama is far from perfect, but why anybody would vote for a Republican nowadays is beyond me. You'd think we would learn something after the past 30 years.

Don't you get it? Obama shipped thousands of weapons from gun shows into the hands of Mexican cartels, in order to generate enough gun violence that people become outraged at the bloodshed and support the gun control measures he never mentioned let alone proposed, because he is secretly waiting until after the 2012 elections to unleash his jackbooted thugs to TAKE ALL OUR GUNS!

IT'S ALL SO CLEAR! HOW CAN YOU SHEEPLE NOT SEE THIS?? WAKE UP!

Romney, whose approach to politics has always been to rearrange his views in relation to the next election, has thus far been stymied by this rabbit-punching. He has been on the defensive, landing few blows of his own and failing to come up with any memorable proposals.

Romney can't come up with any "memorable proposals" because he doesn't really stand for anything except being an overprivileged guy who thinks it's his turn to be President.

2012-06-22 02:27:44 PM
Every move Obama makes is all over the news, followed by a short "Also, Romney said this in response." Obama is guiding the national conversation, with the exception of Fast and Furious, where he wants it to go and Romney is being led by it. Romney's not even effectively exploiting the Fast and Furious misstep. The only thing about Romney that is getting highlighted is that his campaign has a lot of money. Big deal. Thus far, Romney has only been capable of using that money to beat down his clownish GOP opponents. The fact that he needed to spend a dime on putting down that cast of misfits highlights how weak bad he is at campaigning.

Well come on, they didn't do every single thing the Republicans demanded. Obama clearly murdered someone himself, that's the only reasonable extrapolation.

I prefer to think that they did it to escalate the gun violence to a point where people will finally throw their hands up and say "fark it" to the war on drugs. But I'm not too keen on conspiracies

We shouldn't get too comfortable, this race will tighten. Obama's been doing a good job framing the debate but has some real problems in defending this economy. Republican intransigence, no matter how much to blame, just doesn't go over very well as an explaination to the general public. I like the way things are going so far, but I'm no where near ready to call this done.

2012-06-22 02:36:16 PM
To be fair, every time Romney makes a platform statement it is basically a signal for reporters and the Obama campaign to find the inevitable quote where he said the opposite. At least he avoids the flip flopper label if all he ever says is "Obama is bad, and I am not Obama."

That's the sense I'm getting too. There's a good chance my intuition is poor, but past candidates have struck me as wanting to do something as president. Not necessarily do something I find reasonable, but still, I usually sense a want to be president to have an impact on these or those issues, or even just to do the job better than the other options. When looking at Romney, I don't really see a concern for anything beyond wanting to be president. A lot of talk about the opponent is handling things poorly, but no indication on what the right way to handle them is.

Honestly, I don't think Obama has done a great job, and the recent use of executive privilege smells of corruption. Unfortunately, I don't think Romney would be much different, so between the two, I'd rather not give any sort of victory to the GOP which has (especially in the past few years) become absolutely insane. A related issue is Romney would face GOP pressure to appoint a bad supreme court justice if the issue came up in his first term. I kind of doubt a third party will have a good chance at breaking into this election, but I'm hoping one can replace the GOP in the coming years. It's a shame fair voting is impossible with more than two candidates,

Agreed, it's about time we focused on the gun makers and suppliers rather than focusing so much on the person who just pulled the trigger.
