(USA Today)   Buick would like all you young Gen-Y millenial whippersnappers to know that Buicks are for more than old, boring people like Gen X-ers and their parents. They're for young, boring people who want to look like Gen-Xers and their parents, too   (usatoday.com) divider line 10

Here's an idea. I know that Detroit is fighting the image of reliability versus Japanese cars. If they want to change the people's perception of their cars, then perhaps work on engineering aspects. Don't try and simply make your cars "look" Japanese. Americans don't want to drive cars around that have Kabuki eyes.

I don't think Buicks are boring. I think that their latest offerings are ugly.

Case in point, the Verano.

This is a hatefully ugly vehicle.

Buying a Buick is the automotive equivalent of eating at the early bird special in a jogging suit.

I got a 93 Century with a hair over 70,000 miles on it (my dad's car before he died) . Baby gets 29 MPG's with the V6, A/C blows ice cubes and rides like a Caddy. I can park it in the front row of WalMart and not think twice about it (dings and dents) she's a keeper.

Dear Buick:

We sent you the memo back in 2006. Please re-read it. Here's another copy:

"Cars are for transportation, not fashion, as far as we are concerned."

Love,

Every American who is 1. younger than the Boomers and 2. not a blithering idiot.

I love my 2005 LaCrosse, and my 1990 LeSabre (223,000 miles and then donated) before that.

/Why yes I'm over 50, how can you tell?
