i know zombies move slowly most of the time, but I'd still rather not have to carry 23 pounds of dead weight once their numbers overrun the makeshift fence around my perimeter and I have to take off. I'll stick with my axe and shotgun.

2012-06-22 10:16:39 AM
Just what one needs to be eaten quickly, a weapon so heavy and complex you can't use it for more than five minutes. The Zombies deserve to win.

A whole new STUPID level. Everyone knows you need a shotgun with zombies. Those bullets would pass right through 'em.

Needs more teeth and foreshortening.

The best zombie weapon ever is Herschel's unlimited ammo shotgun. Give that 23lb mess to Carl. It's heavy enough to keep him in the house.

I'll take one off a body I find that was caught trying to run away.

I'll promptly take all the shiat off of it.

I'd prefer a CAR-15 with a 4x site, muzzle suppressor and combat taped extended mags.

A flashlight and bayonet would be helpful additions as well.

Why does it have 3 lasers and 4 flashlights? What purpose does that serve?

Cat toys. Cats love to play chase the dot or spot of light, so give them three dots and four spots and it is one hell of a cat toy.

Joke guns like this are why I've begun to hate Picatinny rails. They're a good idea, but some people abuse them to death.

9 mags? I don't carry that many and I'm deployed. Good grief.

An M240L weighs about 22 lbs. unloaded, it's belt-fed and fires a 7.62mm.

Came here to say this. Even my five y/o son says that gun is too big.

How many headshots could one make before being overrun?

As Serial_Crusher said, Axe and shotgun (and maybe a couple of Kodachi's thrown in as backup)

2012-06-22 01:13:49 PM
An axe is an important weapon/tool but you cannot forget the importance of a crowbar.

I would carry a shotgun, knife, several types of screwdrivers, crowbar, axe, and a hammer.

Multi-use tools are very important

I'd prefer this:

The bayonet is a sword, your argument is invalid.

/Also, the hole the bullet makes is 7.4 times bigger in area than a .223/5.55mm.

Inquisitive Inquisitor: Why does it have 3 lasers and 4 flashlights? What purpose does that serve?

You site them for different ranges. For example on my critter control rifle (air rifle) I have a laser set for 77 feet (the distance from my back porch to the midpoint of my garden) and a red dot site set for 127 feet (distance from my back porch to the far end of my garden). Depending on where the critter is, use one or the other accordingly. It saves me the hassle of having to actually do the math regarding what my scope is sited for versus where the creature is in my garden.

You can also get scopes/sites with quick disconnect rings so you just swap them depending on where your target is. It's somewhat common in hunting if say there are two places where deer commonly come into your field of fire. So you have one site setup for each entry point.

An AR-15 rifle can be adapted to infinite ammunition capability if the feed mechanism is reshaped into an infinity symbol.

What's the one on the right? I wouldn't mind finding the info on a short-length, indoor-friendly, semi-auto (no freaking pump!) shotty that would almost certainly be illegal in my home state but could easily be purchased in a neighboring state.

Sig-Sauer 1911-22 pistol. Ruger 10-22 rifle. Both as light as possible out of the shop, share ammo, quiet-ish, accurate, easy to shoot. The 10-22 is good for a bit of distance, the 1911-22 good for up close. I'd rather carry 8 pounds of guns and lots of ammo than 23 pounds of gun and less ammo. We're talking brain killing here, folks, not taking out elk at 250 yards.

They are both pump action (I like reliability in a shotgun, especially with varying length ammo).
Right is the American Kel-Tec KSG.
Left is a newcomer from the Turks, the UTAS, UTS-15.

I've seen the KSG in person and its pretty damn impressive for $850... $1400 after election year hysteria.

Oh good. Two things I find obnoxious, zombie retards and gun retards, all in one thread, to just concentrate the smug and superior to obscene levels.

I happen to like both things. I just don't like gun nuts. And I'm tired of zombies. Can't we move on to the next fad of some type? Stripper werewolves or something?

Shotguns are ok, but I'd rather not let the walking dead get close enough for them to be effective to begin with. Aside from that, they are noisy, will only draw more attention, and most have relatively low ammo capacities and not easy to reload under duress.

I'll take something silenced with a range of 400M or so.

When one is discussing only two items, one should use 'both' rather than 'all'. One would not say 'all two of these things'.

You aren't going to get anything silenced that is anywhere close to accurate at 400M. You do know how silencers and ballistics work, right?

2012-06-22 05:25:57 PM
400M is a long farking way. I don't know if you've done much shooting, but outside of prone w/bipod and a lot of training/stationary target/luck, you're not hitting much of anything at 400M, no matter WHAT the gun. And yeah, silenced? Not happening, silenced sniper rifles are not actually for realz.

Thanks man. Too bad about the pump...I prefer the quick accuracy of semi-autos -- pumping in between rounds ruins the shot. The racking noise is great for late-night prowlers, but won't intimidate any zombies I guess. I used to compete in pro-am-level clay shooting events with a heavy old Remington 1187, so, single barrel/no pump is where it's at for me.

Guess I gotta go full gun-nerd-zombie-rage and get a SPAS-12 then.

Well I, for one, have seen movies and played ALL the Tom Clancy games. Silencers make a gun, any gun which is why they're so cool, sound like thwip instead of bang. Duh.

Mentally I was compounding the guns, zombies, and the afficionados of said items, for a 3-4 grouping. Ha. Pedantics dodged.

To play devil's advocate, if we are actually talking about zombies as portrayed in movies, it would be reasonable to assume a supersonic bullet suppressed by a substantial number of decibels could keep a distant zombie horde from pinpointing the location from which a shot originated at this distance with any reasonable accuracy. The original muzzle blast could be fairly hard to discern accurately if there was some background noise and it didn't repeat too often, and the crack from the supersonic bullet itself, depending on acoustic reflection from surrounding structures, could be even more difficult. Remember, this is zombies, not people.

That said, I'd still prefer a katana and decent cardio conditioning, unless it's fast rage zombies.
