In case you were wondering, here's a picture of Dorothy Klewer when she's not smoothing ice. (From the NY Public Library Archives).

Hmmm. Unfortunate hairstyle, but that look of mischief in her eyes...I'm on the side of "do want", assuming I found the portal to 1917.

For my own personal amusement, I also found a picture of her in a 1917 Newspaper. She was a Zigfield Follies girl for the years of around 1917-1918, but disappeared off the map after that. The only other Dorothy Klewer I found was born in 1924, well after this Dorothy Klewer left the limelight.

Two remarkable things about this photo:

1. She is driving with her skates on.

2. A Shorpy image appeared on Fark that was not the "O" of a photoshop thread.

Yeah, I was noticing the skates as well. I also think that "car" may have been electric.

Fact: everyone in this picture was dead of the Spanish Flu within two years

You can look it up

From the GIS pictures she has kind of a Robin Tunney (sp?) From The Mentalist etc. thing going on. She's cute.

Yes, definitely electric. You can see the conduit under the big black box. Indoor engines in 1917 would have been too loud and fumey. I love the strap-on studded tire gloves, too.

Probably not driving. More than likely they just had her jump on and they staged the shot.

She was super cute, and was on Broadway for a few years. I wonder what ever happened to her.
