Gunny Highway: robsul82: Cuban without a breath reeling off how the Dallas defense stopped LeBron as Skip sits there stewing in silence is a thing of beauty.

Bayless couldn't just sit there and take it. He is such an ass.

I love how he tries to tie himself to Bron's failures and successes.

LOL, yeah, and then "uh, I didn't say that" when Cuban jumps on it.

I dunno, I think he does make a solid point.

As soon as you start to ignore Skip Bayless, you start the process of becoming a better human being and are finally able to achieve more in your life.

Alternatively stated, Skip Bayless is failure incarnate, and any type of interaction with him automatically infects you with more failure.

IAmRight: His postseason numbers aren't good, but I will give him the fact that in the NFL, you never really have a chance to bounce back after a bad game unless your defense plays like Manning's, picking up a half-dozen fumbles from the Packers or completely stifling the 49ers and getting a couple of special-teams turnovers.

Again, team stats vs. individual stats. There's a difference, but that's not really what we're talking about here. We're talking about being dismissive of facts in favor of emotion.

IAmRight: I'm just glad that Cubes was the first motherf*cker in forever to actually credit the Dallas defense with stopping LeBron. No doubt, LeBron could have done more...but sometimes teams are built in a way that stops guys from being successful. Like the Celtics always shut Wade down.

It's so true. Instead of "LeBron gave up," how about "the Mavs did a good job stifling him." God, I love that man.

I'd support a bashing Skip thread. Someone find the full vid.

Di Atribe: I think this thing needs its own thread. Let's make that happen.

You've seen that there are several submissions, all of which have been redlit.

Di Atribe: Again, team stats vs. individual stats.

His individual stats in the playoffs aren't particularly good. However, because of his team, he hasn't had the opportunity to make up for them in, say, the next round, because you don't get another game if you lose in the NFL playoffs. So if he and Eli Manning played similarly mediocre games, the Giants tend to win and the Cowboys tend to lose. Romo gets the "choker" label while Manning gets the "clutch" label AND another opportunity to be successful in the playoffs.

/I'm agreeing with you, dammit
//though I'm still gonna make fun of Romo because he's a Cowboy

Mark Cuban is the MAN.

/except for letting Nash go.

His playoff stats can't really be that great if the TEAM either can't get there or can't win any games.

You love it.

And I did submit the Bayless video that I posted earlier. If someone can find the full video, that'd be super. I didn't know that other versions had been submitted & redlit. I tend to stalk the Greenlit thread as opposed to straight up TF.

Di Atribe: Mark Cuban on First Take

This one's almost 7 minutes long, so it's probably not a clip package.

finally got a chance to watch this. beautiful. simply beautiful. thanks for finding a full clip.

TheManofPA: It honestly depends on what the end game is. I was talking about sportsguy's book rankings in the other thread. I think at this point, we can appreciate that he is the top player right now (though mocking him and the choking was fun as hell last year and early this year). I think he moves from number 20 to a debate with Petit, Dr. J, and Bryant right now. A second ring escalates the debate with Kobe. To be top 10 though, he needs 3 at least (or brilliant season after brilliant season). To battle Jordan/Wilt/Russel, he's going to need the 5-6.

Doesn't mean we can't watch him for what he is, that's just that side of things right now (doesn't mean for the future). Mind you though, everyone will ignore this and go all politics tab with HE'S GREATER THAN JORDAN or the other extreme of HE'S NOT EVEN BEST OF THE YOUNG GUYS. It's more of a pissing contest though when those things come out.

^^ this dude doesn't know shiat about basketball

UNC_Samurai: Mitch Taylor's Bro: 1 Four? Did you lose a finger in a hunting accident or something?

2002 doesn't count, and any one who's heard the name Tim Donaghy should agree.

My favorite part of the Donaghy story was about how more than a few other refs were sitting in lawyers offices the morning Donaghy was to allocute, ready for their turns to start. And then Donaghy didn't get to allocute for some reason.

MmmmBacon: Enciting to Riot is still a crime, as far as I know. Kinda hard to win a second term when you are in jail.

Then we get to know if he can pardon himself. That would be one of the rare places I'd support Kasich along with him declaring open season on Mr. James.

gtfan92: sethstorm: James has now proven himself to be WAY more arrogant than Jordan.

What year were you born?

Old enough to have seen Jordan in his prime and understand what was going on.

Orgasmatron138: Count me as one of those people who thought The Decision was tacky. However, he's expressed regret for how it went down, and it was really just a minor thing anyway.

Given his upbringing, it would have been really easy for him to turn out as a bad guy. He doesn't have 50 kids with tons of women, he doesn't have a criminal record, he represents the game well, says the right things publicly, gives proper credit to teammates, and does a ton of charity work. I think he's a good dude.

It's not a minor thing to piss off a city the way he did. You don't get to be considered "Persona Non Grata" in Cleveland as a sports related figure for nothing.

That said, it'll be a minor thing when he has the ring melted, the diamonds sold off, and the proceeds given along with an apology to Cleveland. That is, if he's managed to survive the trip.

The rest of what you said just came off as herpderp.

Can't wait to see y'all try to defend them when they finally do get their deserved comeuppance. Preferably one with James being humbled.

4NSpy: I'm glad Lebron won, this will force people to move on to a new topic.

I saw a thread on /sp/ of "pictures we can't use anymore" and it was everyone posting images from the past years that poked fun at Lebron's lack of rings/championships.

Of course now it is just "well he's not as good as kobe/jordan! Call me when he has 432 rings!" which isn't as fun.

You can still use them, since his record stopped counting when he spouted off his mouth about going to Miami.

2012-06-23 12:54:27 AM
FreakinB: Why? What's so wrong about what he did? It was a bad idea and he should apologize for it in front of Cleveland's fans.

FTFY

Still not a good idea. The only thing he deserves to do is apologize as I've said upthread.

2012-06-23 12:57:24 AM
mrtoadswildride: You're so close to completing that thought...

Yes, it was a PR mistake......THAT HE NEVER APOLOGIZED FOR....

That's all he ever had to do. Admit he was wrong and say he was sorry to the owners and fans for how he announced his departure.

People were going to be upset no matter what he did...and he has every right to join Miami...but he acted like a d-bag announcing he was leaving. And has done nothing since then to show he's in anyway sorry for what he did.

SO MUCH FARKING THIS

This quote, "All the people that were rooting on me to fail, at the end of the day, they have to wake up tomorrow and have the same life that they had before they woke up today. They have the same personal problems they had today. I'm going to continue to live the way I want to live and continue to do the things that I want to do with me and my family and be happy with that. They can get a few days or a few months or whatever the case may be on being happy about not only myself, but the Miami Heat not accomplishing their goal. But they have to get back to the real world at some point."

pretty much sums up his entire mentality.

Which is the mentality of an arrogant bastard. Until he makes good by Cleveland, he's not going to have any good time in the Buckeye State.

LegacyDL: Now the question becomes how many rings does Lebron need to get before the haters give him a break?

How many rings does he want to melt and sell off, with the proceeds going to Cleveland? How bad of an apology does he want to make?

" Now the question becomes how many rings does Lebron need to get before the haters give him a break?"

Why does he deserve a break?

skinink: " Now the question becomes how many rings does Lebron need to get before the haters give him a break?"

Why does he deserve a break?

1. The argument that he quit on Cleveland and someone like Jordan (Kobe, etc.)would never due such a thing
- The Bulls were 55-27 led by a Hall Of Fame player in the year that Jordan took off. The Cavs were the 2nd worst team in all of the NBA when Lebron left. I'd argue that the team that Lebron joined wasn't as talented as the team Bulls were without Jordan.

2. He was/is an arrogant player who organized a stupid event in Miami and rubbed it in the fans of Cleveland faces
- Yes. He did. But all it amounts to was a bad PR move. Supposedly he apologized for it, but maybe he didn't. But He's a 25 year-old brand who was convinced to do a stupid thing, and he stupidly went along with it. He's been paying for this for 2 years now. Again, he didnt physical hurt anything (humans or otherwise), he wasn't arrested, he didn't stop giving money to charity. He went on TV and announced what team he was going to play for (Something, BTW, he didn't get to do in college).

Other than being a somewhat arrogant athlete, what, exactly, has Lebron James done to deserve the kind of heat that Roethlisberger/Michael VIck got. He's the best player in the NBA, and one of the 2 best players in the league since Jordan retired from the Bulls. Basically, he public persona isn't everything for everyone.

3. He's a choker who falls apart in big game
- Nope. Stop saying that.

2012-06-23 10:39:54 AM
LegacyDL: Now the question becomes how many rings does Lebron need to get before the haters give him a break?

The answer, I believe, is n+1, where n is the number of rings that he currently has.

That was more than just a "bad PR move". That was a "don't come back until you're willing to make a sincere apology move" - by having the rings melted in Cleveland. Otherwise, Mr. James deserves to be open season in Ohio, and not deserving of any titles of merit.

Art Modell still cant visit Cleveland after divesting his share of the team he moved to Baltimore. He hasnt made the right apology, and neither has Mr. James. As a result, both will end up being on the wrong side of history no matter what they do.

Other than being an arrogant athlete, Lebron James has done everything to deserve the kind of heat that Roethlisberger/Michael Vick/Art Modell got.

FTFY.

In his defense, the Monster-Alien Baseketball all-stars haven't come back for a rematch, so his ring disparity is due solely to age.
