Well, a single Borg cube did a pretty good number in it.

Oh, and the Dominion destroyed it.

a good starship is only as good as it's captain. of course, the captain is only as good as his writers.

Millennium Falcon as #1? Seriously?

You pick up the SDF1 but skip the Macross Quarter?

Think SDF1 firepower, 1/4th the size, and enough engines to fling the thing around like a large fighter.

I guess I could go all Super-Nerd and bring up the fact that there was also a Constitution class Defiant.

1. Millennium Falcon (Star Wars)
Coolest Feature: The matched set of gun turrets. That symmetry-breaking cockpit. The Monster Chess set in the lounge. The moan of the malfunctioning warp drive

Done in one.

ALTHOUGH, the Sao Paolo was re-christened as Defiant almost immediately afterwards.

Meh, tried watching that show a couple times due to recommendations from Farkers, but just could not get into it. The CGI was laughably bad even given the timeframe the show came out, and the acting was atrocious. Even the hot chick running around scantily clad couldn't save it.

Also, the Normandy SR-2 was better than the SR-1.

The Prometheus ship, really?
It's a 4 engine firefly class. Nothing original about it at all.

It wasn't an awesome show to me, either. But that wasn't a list of awesome shows. Or even really awesome ships, for that matter. Figured they could throw one more up that wasn't Another Star Wars Ship.

Name one starship more iconic in our culture. The only thing that might come close (if you don't include the rest of star wars) is The Enterprise from the original star trek.

Anyone else notice that the Battlestar Pegasus is shown instead of the actual Battlestar Galactica? I would go to war in the Pegasus, but still kind of an oversight.

Also, nice to see the SA-43 get some respect.

Expected two to be missing: Satellite of Love and Gunstar. Only one missing, so it's not completely awful, but fark you for missing the Gunstar.

If that was the case they could have easily gone with things like Zapp Brannigan's ship or the Planet Express from Futurama, or the ship from Andromeda, Moya or Chrichton's module or Prowlers from Farscape, any of the space craft from any variation of the Stargate series. The list goes on.

Some good entires, and then a lot of joke entries tossed in. The Moon? A nonfunctioning rocket in FFVII? Please.

At least the Shadow cruiser made the list, but I'd put most of the other ships on Babylon 5 ahead of the rest of the list. I want to pilot a Starfury.. though I'd probably puke if I tried.

That would have been better than at least one of the entries on the list, for sure.

Eh, I know it does function as a space faring vessel and all, but I think the TARDIS is seen more as a time travel machine than a space ship.

This. I don't know what that list was even going for. It was just naming random ships in random orders afaict.

2012-06-22 01:07:40 AM
How the hell are there only two Star Trek ships, and three Star Wars ships, and the Falcon, while iconic and nice, really isn't number one. And as for 'Trek ships, while the original Enterprise is iconic, it really isn't the best 'Trek ship, it's not even the best one to carry the name 'Enterprise'. They probably could have knocked The Heart of Gold off that list and put another Trek ship up there.

And while I liked Final Fantasy 7, was that really a ship worthy of mention for this list?

1) so many absent from the list
2) so many crappy ships on the list

I've always liked the USS Cygnus form "The Black Hole." It's not iconic, but it's a cool looking starship.

The point of the design of Red Dwarf (the ship) is that it is in no way cool.

You know, I'd heard the guy designing it, when coming up with the texture for the Shadow cruiser, took a hand scanner to his dog's nose.

What's wrong with these people?

to be fair 'count on me' and 'miracles' are pretty good songs.

too bad they all died in that fiery starship crash and then the evil record company released awful robotic versions claiming that 'nothing was gonna stop them now' 'cause they 'built that city'.

at least that's how I see it.

degenerate-afro: No Winnebago?

Seriously....who wouldn't want a Winnebago that can travel through space?

Came here for the Gunstar, Space Battleship Yamato (Argo), and to say "You put the Titanic from Futurama on here but not the one from Doctor Who????"

So...

THIS.

And while I saw a flying pancake, my vote would be for this starship:
