But you can be damn sure that $59.99 payment will be yanked out of your account the second you hit "purchase"

In a bizarre decision presumably made to reduce server overload fight credit card fraud

So punishing the legitimate consumer because of supposed credit card fraud. Great system there Blizzard...

FTA: Outside of the issue that we fixed, digital purchases do require a review period before they kick over from Starter to Full editions. We apologize for the inconvenience, but it is a necessary step to combat fraud and other malicious activities that can weaken everyone's play experience.

The delay is no longer than three days, and is often much quicker than that. Hang tight. :)

Again, if their tactics to fight theft and fraud affect the legitimate consumer, then they need to rethink their tactics (same with unskippable FBI Anti-Piracy Warnings on purchased DVDs)

Every time a company decides that screwing their actual paying customers is a good way to get more people to pay for their game, I die a little more inside.

This is like a car company building crappy cars on purpose so that nobody will want to steal it. As a result, because the car is crappy, why would anyone want to buy it either when there are plenty of other great cars on the market?

Same thing with video games.

/you wouldn't download a car

You know, I could see game companies do this more in the future for all purchases, so that people don't beat it on release day, blab to the Internet about how much the game sucks, and kill post-launch sales.

InfamousBLT: This is like a car company building crappy cars on purpose so that nobody will want to steal it. As a result, because the car is crappy, why would anyone want to buy it either when there are plenty of other great cars on the market?

Not quite. The car is still good, but the dealer and manufacturer are skeevy shiats and the contract they make you sign - for a pretty decent, powerful, nice car - requires that you submit yourself for drug testing, a full criminal background, DNA testing to be held on file with state and local governments. Also, maybe your mother slept around a bit so your father isn't who you thought; for good measure let's get a paternity test. Also, you may be adopted. Should order a maternity test too. You'll have to pay to exhume your parent(s) if they're deceased. If they're cremated or a DNA sample cannot be obtained, you're out of luck.

Meanwhile, the guy who stole the very nice car off the lot had a fun joyride, and is still treated better than you if he's even caught.

I've got a better solution: Don't buy this game.

I'm done paying full price for games. I'm done bothering with games that require more than me walking into the store, buying it and being able to play it without being online when a single player game. I'm done with being nickle and dimed to death for DLC, be it Day 1 DLC or Day 30. GotY editions at half price is all they'll get out of me. It's been one let down after another. ME3's ending, having to create a GFWL account to play the B:AC's HQR DLC I bought from Steam, CoH turning into a worthless sack of crap after supporting it for 8 years...

The final nail in my gaming enjoyment is this idiotic Pay2Win model that everything is moving towards. I about shiat myself when I saw that Mechwarrior was entering closed beta. Now they've got a "legendary founders pack" for $120 bucks and a total F2P model that has completely stripped away any thought that I'd enjoy it. Yea, I'm still in pending status waiting for a CB invite.

Just give me a damn single player *PC* mechwarrior game that's as good as MW3.

I'm liking the game a lot. Just finished Nightmare difficulty with my Demon Hunter. My main complaint with the game is that it definitely prioritizes gold farming in order to buy the best gear on the auction house, instead of just finding good gear through normal progression. They've even nerfed a lot of farming to drive more people to the auction house.

Debating what to go with for my next character: Monk or Barbarian.

What some people wanted was D2 gussied up to match today's standards. What they got was a whole boatload of the tedium of the game scrapped or streamlined to reduce/remove a ton of frustration from the original, causing impotent nerd rage to erupt that the game catered to casuals.

I gave up on Blizzard when it became clear to me that their whole focus now is getting people to pay for things in-game. They're not so far from Zynga's model at this point, and when you add their DRM and attitude to the fact that their games aren't anywhere near as fun (or original) as they used to be, it comes to a point where they're not worth the effort or forgiveness.

So f♥ck Blizzard. F♥ck them and their Big Brother gaming.

No. You finish the game on normal mode in 15 hours. Thats a blast. Then you unlock hard mode. Then you unlock harder mode. Then you unlock hardest mode. The story never changes. The gameplay never changes. The loot system is completely random. You're forced farm the same content over and over for gold. Then you buy gear off the auction house. That's it. That's the game.

Real money auction house might raise the severity of their fraud concerns, but this policy isn't because of that.

Blizzard has had the same restriction on upgrading a trial of WoW to a full copy in place for years.

Never gonna happen. There will never be a MechWarrior game as good as MW3.

Two of my friends are completely caught up in the MWO hype. I'm fairly certain it's going to suck balls.

List of games I've purchased within the last year (via steam sale) that I cannot bring myself to finish:

1. Crysis 2
2. Bioshock 2.
3. Rage
4. Metro 2033
5. Far Cry 2

List of games I've recently purchased that I am playing through a second time:

1. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl.
2. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat

List of games that are just fun to play:

1. Any of the recent Total War titles.

I just cannot do normal railroad first person shooters anymore. Give me something with some exploration and atmosphere.

D2 was the same basic system, and many people continued to play it up until d3 came out (and some wierdos still do). The orginal game was fun, and throughout its life patches came out which added new things (as well as an expansion adding ~25-40% more content). People who say that the game is a giant treadmill probably weren't going to like the game anyways - I know i created 20+ distinct and interesting characters in D2, and expect at least as much replayability in D3.

Complaints about the RMAH are from a different perspective. In the second half of D2's life a number of money-for-items systems were developed (notable D2JSP) by outside groups. The community using the outside systems were very happy with the systems but wanted them to be more secure. There was issues with trusting both the exhanges they used as well as insecure trading in game. The community that didn't use those systems were annoyed at the ubiquity of $$ and the incentives that gave for duping, cheating, botting and other exploitation.

With D3, blizzard is trying to legitimize the black market, and thus gain some control over negative effects that were felt in D2. The always-on requirement and no single-player is DIRECTLY a counter to duping, botting, and cheating. The RMAH is just like legalizing marijuana in the US - instead of hunting down people violating the TOS, banning accounts, and dealing with tons of adverts/spam they just create a regulated system and tax it.

Look at the email header to see if the sender address is spoofed. If it legit, they should match.

But a 1hour bann? I doubt it kosher.

If it is spoofed, blizzard has a decent way to report the email on bnet.

Well that's not entirely true. The increases in difficulty change the way you play and the skills you pick. Normal isn't really a blast, its kinda boring since nothing is really a threat to you. The game gets more fun as the difficulty ramps up, and peaked for me somewhere in act3 hell where every encounter was just lethal enough without being impossible. Inferno is a bit over the top, but as my gear has improved it's coming back to the sweet spot.

I've just ignored the real money auction house, so I'm not sure why it annoys other people so much.

Exactly. A relaxation of the massive barrier to entry that plagued D2 is not a valid excuse for the game being bad. I don't want to have to pre-plan my stat allocation before I even roll a character so that if I happened to have fortune smile on me and get precisely the armor I'd need at level 73 (or managed to find enough useful junk to trade up for it), I'd have exactly the str/dex necessary to actually equip it in the first place. I don't want to have to start a fresh character because I accidentally screwed up my synergies by putting a point into Fireball that I should have put into Fire Wall. People say they don't want to farm gold to buy stuff on the auction house? I was doing the same **** on Mephisto MF runs just to get any single item worth trading, which didn't happen very often. I'd rather kill enemies, get loot, sell the crap, auction the good stuff, and get gold for my time to buy upgrades to slots I didn't get lucky on in my normal playthrough.

Yeah, after I read what games you'd recently played I thought the graphics might be enough to be a deal breaker. But I'd say just give it a shot. I played unmodded and loved Warband. Nothing like a leading a heavy cavalry charge and sticking a lance through the opposing lord's chest to start the engagement or holding a keep against stupid odds by smashing the invaders' heads with a heavy mace as they try to storm your battlements. The scope of the game is impressive, and it does most of it very well. With Fire and Sword didn't really do it for me though, not sure why.

Same here with FC2. And the original Bioshock. I find myself getting overwhelmed with all the weapons and options available. That was why I loved the original Far Cry (and Halo) because it forced you to pick two weapons at the start of each level and that's all you got. My experience started out well but then they started taking servers down for patches and maintenance which for a basically sp game is absurd.... Then they started nerfing farming which is absurd for a basically farming type game/genre.....then after more then 3 days i still didnt have access to the rmah even though i purchased it a day or 2 after launch....then they offered refunds so i submitted a ticket for a refund which was ignored then i spent over a week trying to get a refund over the phone but thier hold queue was full and the automated voice says "try again tommorrow sucker" and disconnects me so i called the cc company for the charge back.

I even made it to inferno act 2 on my wizzy.....fark blizzard...i am glad i never played wow...the less of my money they receive the better
