A bit from the BBC commentary about how referee Howard Webb looks:

The besuited Webb is wearing a headset making him look a bit like a bouncer. Or an incredibly butch Britney backing dancer.

KaisertheCoyote: star_topology: The most in-form GK in the world vs. the world's 2nd best striker who might be finding his form?

I'm in.

Not sure I would call Cech the most in form keeper in the world right now and Ronaldo is a winger not a striker, but I agree it's an interesting match-up.

Who would you put above Cech after his CL peformances? Neuer? Hart?

I'll agree to that. But current form it's a lot closer than it would normally be, I think.

That Portuguese left/Czech right flank is going to be fascinating all game long. Ronaldo and Conterao vs Gebre-Selassie and Jiracek... they all had really good tournaments so far.

Well I'm talking about this tournament in particular. I think Cech is one of the best keepers in the world, but I think he was made to look a bit better than he is after the CL because he was playing with such a packed defense. I also have a hard time forgetting how he massively screwed the pooch and gave Greece that goal.

After seeing the Spain vs. Croatia game I would say Casillas might be most on form. So far he's made the most impressive saves in my opinion.

I want to say Neuer, but he was only tested against Portugal really. (Made some beastly saves, too.)

Again, no disrespect to Cech. He's a great player, but I just am not sure he's the most on form keeper.

/I'm also a bitter Munich fan though, so there's that. I can't say I'm not a little biased.

Iker Casilas (sp) and Neuer I feel are the top two keepers currently. The difference between any of these guys is probably 2 super saves a season.

Wow, this is a pretty exciting game, overall. Though, it does make you appreciate the clean ball that USA generally plays*.

* I realize this is in part due to anti-American attitudes. They can't get away with anything.

I haven't watched too many England matches, but hasn't Hart had quite a few brilliant moments so far in this tournament?

Mostly because England have parked the bus in front of him.

Hart has been world class so far, as opposed to his defense which has looked iffy to say the least.

This game feels more England/Italy than Por/Cze

That's true... but that said, England's super negative style actually is making me nervous that they could pull a Greece 2004. They have the talent to do that, and rooting for Germany that would absolutely kill me.

Yeah, but its hands are absolute c***. Can't keep a hold on the ball, always lets it rebound right back into danger.

I was on the phone and missed the last couple minutes of that half. What was Ronaldo cursing about at half time there? Besides the post jumping in the way of his ball.
