I never read the comics, and the Stallone movie was laughably bad, but honestly I don't think it looks bad.

That looks staggeringly generic. Of the two trailers that have come out in the past 24 hours, it's a pretty distant 2nd, IMO.

Bit of a let down.

So Christian Bale picked up some extra bucks doing his Batman voice for this?

Obviously no lozenges in the future.

Pretty much, but "staggeringly generic" is leaps and bound better than the '95 movie.

And apparently Dredd isn't going to take off his helmet at all, so that'll keep the comic nerds happy.

anything would be an improvement over the first movie...

And, apparently, no reading comprehension in your neck of the woods. FTFA: It stars RED and Star Trek actor Karl Urban as the lead justice-giver while support is offered by Lena Headey and Olivia Thirlby.

This isn't even close to high on my list of movies/shows to give a shiat about, but damn people, read.

I assumed not because Bale was rumoured to have been cast as Dredd a while back.

so uh, its been pulled for copyright infringement. At least that's what it tells me when i try to play it.

The Stallone movie wasn't that bad, but if you don't like/want campy action, sure, it's awful. It's the B movie Running Man of the 90s.

Lionsgate doesn't want free advertising for their movie. The ad for their movie is copyrighted, dammit, and if you want to see the ad for their movie you have to...uh...pay?

Morons.

Why in the world would a company pull their TRAILER for copyright infringement? They don't want people to see the free preview?

Yes, apparently. Lionsgate wants more traffic on their site for some of that internet money I guess?

According to the official site they seem to imply the trailer is "exclusive" to the Machinima YouTube channel on "Thursday"

Please tell me they got Rob Schnider to reprise his role. He was what made the original so great.

That's depressing... Judge Dredd is one of the biggest British comic characters, why are Lena Headey and Karl Urban (even though he's from NZ, still) playing down their accents?

Really, they make a new drug everyone is addicted to, and they aren't using Umpty? "Slow-Mo?" What the hell?

Isn't Megacity One in North America?

Alright, now I kinda want to watch the original again.

Just because you decided to read it in a British accent doesn't mean it was meant to. Mega-City One is and always was situated on the East Coast of North America.

Having read Dredd fairly regularly back in the early 90's... I have to say it looks MILES better than the Stallone flick. The only things that give me pause are the lack of Judge Death, and that Judge Anderson should be more bombshell than frumpy librarian... hopefully they at least keep her as a psychic.

I think it would be nice if this were in the soundtrack.

Only thing that seems to suck is it practically taking place in a building the whole time...

Kinda wish the wastelands would get explored more, maybe even some of the other mega cities...

At least the first movie got Mega city and the uniforms right. This one not so much.

Don't worry, some people got the joke at least. I wonder if people will do as many parodies of this as they did Bales Batman...

I still watch the original from time to time, like other Stallone movies they're guilty pleasures. Like sex with a second cousin.

Stallone said in an interview that he knew when they were making it that it was shiat but they were already committed so there wasn't anything anyone could do. You would think that they would have caught that at the script stage but I guess not. The wrong people are often given the big money to make movies.

-Sly overacting
-Diane Lane being sexy in tight polyester
-Armand Assante chewing scenery
-Jurgen Prochnow and Max von Sydow filling their standard character actor roles
-Rob Schneider being occasionally funny and getting beat up a lot

Yea, it's alright. No Demolition Man, but what is?

I hope Anthrax is on the soundtrack.

His impersonation of Stallone as Dredd: I am the law! is comedic gold, I don't care what anyone says. And yes, total guilty pleasure, I am a proud owner of the DVD.

'Course Anthrax is still touring and do SBM still exist? I'm sure they can use the money more.

Yeah, but it's much more important to appear worldly than correct.

I honestly think this looks great. It evokes the look and feel of the comics really well, it's apparently going to be ultra-hard R, and it's going to gloriously flop due to a combination of memories of the '95 camp-fest and people being uninterested in R-rated scifi that isn't by a director who cranked out a couple of Russell Crowe romcoms.

/aware of his vastly superior other movies
//doesn't erase A Good Year
