Rick Scott needs to STFU about everything. But he should STFU about jobs since he nixed the speed rail that everyone voted for that would have created tens of thousands of jobs for purely petty political reasons.

2012-06-21 09:52:01 AM
If this is true (and it sounds like it is) then Romney is not only desperate, he's clumsy. he shouldn't be talking about the economy at all...that just calls into account his own record on jobs and well, that's a fight he can't win.

Romney's best bet is to make this fight about 'morals' and religion. if it becomes an election about the economy then he's f*cked.

Pathetic...

Florida's reduced unemployment is hardly the only issue the Romney campaign has or is going to have with Rick Scott.

Tried to submit this yesterday: "Romney's got 99 Florida problems, and a Rick is all of them"

This part is hilarious:

Scott and Romney have distinctly different messages on the economy. Scott travels around the state talking about improvements, while Romney's supporters run television ads in Florida saying unemployment remains high.

I thought the GOP was supposed to be great at coordination and messaging?

There's a laundry list of farking evil and/or incompetent things Scott has done that article hasn't even scratched the surface of. If you take Lex Luthor and strip away all intelligence and any sense of shame he might have and ramp up the evil, you might get a composite of Rick Scott. The fact that he has a 30 something approval rating just shows that some people will approve of anyone if they belong to their "team".

Mitt Romney is simply clueless but not necessarily evil. He knows that he's farked people over and ruined people's lives but I don't think it's resonated with him more than numbers on a chart. Scott on the other hand is Dick Cheney level of comic book supervillain just on a smaller scale.

You're right. Romney can't be held responsible for his own campaign.

Having spent an hour or so sitting a few feet from Rick Scott, I can tell you there are no words to describe how creepy that man is. Seriously, you could put him in a movie playing an alien who has assumed human form but doesn't have the mannerisms, and he'd be completely believable.

Which is a lesson in how mass media politics work. If the guy had to sit down and have a conversation with voters, he wouldn't get elected dog catcher.

2012-06-21 11:16:57 AM
Romney's willing to sacrifice governorships just for an outside chance at the Presidency. Why are Republicans so eager to nominate this guy again? There is still time to change their minds.

2012-06-21 11:17:01 AM
I can't imagine why these governors don't want to hang themselves for this strong candidate.

I get what you're saying, but in this instance how does that distinction matter? It's not unreasonable that people conflate the campaign with the campaigner.

in b4 "because Florida's a swing state Mitt needs - NEEDS - to win to become 45". Which is why he's not also leaning on Bobby Mac in VA.

I wonder - is he also leaning on Kasich (OH, down .4% in unemployment since January, -1.7% since January 2011) and Tom Corbett (PA, down .2% since January, -.6% from January 2011)?

Not me. I'm glad I A) live in a state that's safe for one side (though I wish it was safe Obama), and B) don't watch cable, satellite, or over-the-air TV. I would much rather avoid watching the same ad over and over and over again telling me how Romney and Obama are the antichrist.

Respondeat superior. In a case like this, which happens all too often in politics, I could accept the "it wasn't me, it was one of my people" excuse, if the person in charge actually takes proper action as a result. However, saying "It wasn't me, it was this guy that works for me" is not acceptable if you continue to let it happen. Romney either knew this was happening, in which case he looks like a petulant child, or he didn't, in which case he now looks like an incompetent manager.

And that runs completely counter to his message that he was able to successfully run a business and create tons of jobs so he'll do a good job running the government. There really is no way that this will work out well for him.

Yep. That's right. Because as a guy calling himself a "leader", he would know that everything that happens under his command is his responsibility. In this case, his "campaign."

Therefore, since you say that, Romney is not a "leader" but a caricature who accepts responsibility for all the good stuff, but none of the bad.

Well done!

What's it like living in a state where the politics actually matters? GA is quite boring politically. It gets no national attention because it is reliably Republican and the state politics is dull because the Democrats are powerless and the Republicans are lazy.

That is absolutely true, but it hasn't stopped him from flooding the airwaves here about how we've created 23,000 jobs this last year, and about how things are looking up over the last 18 months.
