No, he came to about 20 seconds after the crew cut off the mike, and then finished the rest of the game without incident. He's taken the last couple of days off though.

Ah. I wasn't aware he finished the broadcast. They gave the impression on sports radio that they got him to a hospital quickly. I missed the game, so I didn't catch the aftermath. They really should have gotten him to a hospital for evaluation right then.

This sort of think happens to Susyn Waldmen all the time. She should really get that checked out.

I lived at 183 and 360 in a studio apartment for awhile in the 90's, I was basically flat broke all the time. I had money for a little booze (not on Sundays though) and $6 cheap seats at Rangers weekday games.

Migraines can do that-- they're not just really bad headaches, which are excitations of the pain-sensitive structures surrounding the brain, but are rather bouts of unexpected neural activation and depression within the brain itself, often spreading throughout and beyond a single region, be it from the occipital lobe (when sufferers experience visual auras) through other lobes or centres of the brain or some other path-- there's no universal pattern or cause, so far as has been concretely identified. There's usually pain, often nausea, sometimes an aura of one sort or another, and so on. Aphasic symptoms like his aren't terribly common, but neither are they exactly unique.

But given how rare migraines are in men (something like 3 out of 4 adult migraine sufferers are women), there's no such thing as a truly common presentation. Every so often, the results of a migraine resemble the effects of a stroke, without the blood-loss and risk of permanent damage. Still worth seeing a neurologist, of course, which I assume he has done by now.

My mom would get them and be bedridden for hours at a time - excruciating pain, light sensitivity, nausea, the whole kaboodle. She quit having them after menopause, fortunately. Now, my little sister gets them, unfortunately.

I was lucky that I never inherited that from her; however, I do suffer from what my doc calls "occular migraines". I seriously thought I was going blind when it first happened, just a jagged circular neon-light pattern in my right eye (always a neon-teal and fuscia [sp?] color), and it interferes enough that I have to pull over if I'm driving.

Absolutely no pain though, so I got that going for me...

Sort of, but many of the specifics are still a bit controversial. Hormones seem to be a factor (which is why chocolate, which contains anandamide, a neurotransmitter connected to oestradiol, is so often identified as a trigger), and that might explain the gender split. But neurologists still argue about it and can't reach consensus about much beyond the most commonly observed activation patterns and the normally resultant inflammation.

So, yeah, kind of like an electrical short, I suppose, only with more randomness and drugs and hormones and brains. So more like a blind teenage zombie with neurosyphilis, a fork, and access to a huge circuit breaker.
