Citrate1007: We all know he's guilty as fark regarding almost every election and campaign finance law.

KR's too smart to be personally criminally responsible for anything. Most of his perfidy is quite legal although he has frequently been the strategic advisor for races where defamatory rumours became a key part of the campaign. What Rove is mainly "guilty" of is highly competent shamelessness, particularly in lowering the level of political discourse, frequent dishonesty, and successfully appealing to the absolute worst elements of human nature.

Advising = conspiracy to commit. Much harder to prove though.

Wook: Somacandra: FTFA: "Oh, any number" of charges could have been brought against Rove, Pelosi said. "But there were some specific ones for his being in contempt of Congress."

Good for leaving that part out Submitter.

It's unclear if Pelosi is aware Rove did not serve in a Bush administration position that's identical to Holder's in the Obama administration. Rove was a senior policy adviser - a position that's more similar to Valerie Jarrett's or David Axelrod's on President Barack Obama's team. Holder is the attorney general, the top law enforcement official in the United States. Pelosi spokesman Nadeam Elshami wouldn't answer when The Daily Caller asked if Pelosi was aware of the distinction.

Good for leaving that part out, Commenter.

Yes, good for leaving out something entirely irrelevant. Thanks for pointing that out.

Unless, of course, you think the position held by the accused is relevant to a criminal charge, in which case you might be a moran.

When speaking of Karl Rove it's always instructive to remember that his mentor Lee Atwater, after being stricken with brain-cancer, renounced all of his evil doings and expressed sincere regret for all of the harm he caused your country.

Karl stepped right up, picked up the baton and ran as fast as his corpulent little legs would carry him.

He's a special kind of evil. Morally insane get close.

Agreed. It's pretty hard to pin the blame on a strategic advisor anyway. He can frame all of his advice as "suggestions". It's hard to commit a crime by suggesting that someone else do something dirty, especially when there's no clear coercive power there. It's even harder if you frame the advice appropriately: "You might consider, assuming you find a legal way to do this... "

The Plame situation might be the exception. If he was allowed (had the clearance, need to know, etc.) to know that information, and told someone else who wasn't allowed, that's a serious crime regardless of motivation.

Ha,
Republicans can't even be consistent on this issue from one minute to the next. At what point they just have to say "Oh fine, it's ok when we do, but only us."

Anyone else see the irony that the modern Republican party is becoming more and more like the Communist Russia that they spent so much time vilifying? I've seen this with teenage girls who were so much alike they hated each other.

and hey, we all know Mitt Romney wouldn't abuse executive privilege.

Issa is on a partisan witch hunt. This all has nothing to do with Holder or Obama. They have given over 99.5% of all the documents related to this.

Did Obama plan this? NO.
Did Holder plan this? NO.
Did either Obama or Holder execute the plan? NO.

But hey, GOP, KFTC.

Remember the last time a Republican used executive privilege it was to cover-up treason of outing a CIA agent.

From the same author:
"Karl Rove, the former senior adviser to President George W. Bush, said Thursday that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi sounded "like a mad Red Queen" when she claimed she could have "arrested" him "on any given day" when she was the House speaker."

It is unclear if Rove is aware that Pelosi is not actually a Queen, or that she is not a character in a Lewis Carol story.

/ok ok... I may have added that last part.
//But seriously, what an obnoxious thing to say.
///What an obnoxious "story" to even COVER

I have to admit, seeing "I could have had Karl Rove arrested but I didn't" being spun as a positive is not something I thought I'd see when I woke up this morning.

What's next? "We could have voted against military action in Iraq but we didn't!"

Other than the fact that Rove was never found in contempt of Congress, Nancy has a perfectly valid point. That and the fact that she has no power of arrest over a contempt citation, which needs the Justice Department to prosecute.

Pelosi is the Joe Biden of the House.

And yes, I would also love to see a detailed specific list of things that could get Rove arrested in relation to contempt of court.

This. I saw a clip on Maddow last night with a bunch of Alaskans whagarrbbl-ing about Eric Holder and how much they don't like him because he is anti-gun. When pressed for specifics, one guy mentioned his "voting record". Problem is, Holder never held an office where he could vote on gun bills. When told this, the man mentioned that, while he couldn't provide one single example, he just knew tat Holder and Obama and Co. were coming after his guns.

Republicans: OMG Nancy Pelosi wants to arrest Karl Rove!
