He was too often the very best (if not only good) thing about some very bad (but fun, usually solely because of his presence) films*

R.I.P. one of the last of the great character actors.

*as well as a few undeniably great ones. If you haven't seen "Scarecrow" or "The Ninth Configuration" yet, you really are missing out on a couple of very damn fine films.

Lynch reportedly suffered scarring in 1967 after he accidentally set himself on fire while under the influence of LSD.

See ma, drugs do pay!

FTFA: "Zombie expressed sorrow at the news of Lynch's death, writing on his Facebook page, "I woke up this morning to the news that our friend Richard Lynch has passed away. It saddens me that I was not able to taste his sweet sweet BRAAAAAAAAAINS before his death."

Worked with him for a couple of days on a low budget film ... about 4 years ago. He was a good actor, a funny man and very patient with a very green crew.

Godspeed, Mr. Lynch.

My favorite scene with him in that movie.

I'll always remember him as the crazy cult leader from Bad Dreams
Rip scary man.

2012-06-21 11:19:21 AM
Yes, me too...

While he was in SO MANY flicks...

Bad Dreams was especially good. The idea of pouring a ladle full of gasoline over my own head and lighting up while a bunch of other whackos in the same room did the same thing...

Seems very painful.

The burning scene was awesome. So were some of the cutting scenes later on in the movie.

R.I.P.

RIP. Always a great bad guy and half the time was the only thing good about a movie.

Still hard to top a rocket launcher shootout scene in an office. Against Chuck Norris.

Just found this tribute video on youtube and thought I'd share it with the rest of fark. IN MEMORIAM..TRIBUTE TO RICHARD LYNCH (1936-2012) ONE OF THE BEST VILLAINS

The first time I saw him was on a pretty forgettable TV movie in the 1970s where
he played a vampire. The movie itself was pretty standard, but he stood out as
obviously having a good time.

According to IMDB, it was called Vampire, and it may as well have been done in a colour
palatte of blue letters on a white background for all that it was about as by
the numbers as you can get.

I was thinking about that movie yesterday as it's one that I've been trying to find a copy of for years. Unfortunately at this time it's only available on VHS.
