When they get run over by a truck, they can list the cause of death as "Nerd Overdose."

Someone with the right amount of pluck could have surgically decreased by half the geek factor of Portland by speeding their car through that bike parade.

It's all fun and games until some kid from a farm rides around you on a Razor towing a cable.

I didn't see any nerds there, only a bunch of folks who had just been hopelessly outcooled.

/love it, but how do they SEE?

Oh, no. I live in Southeast Portland, the nexus of all biking, and running an engine-powered vehicle just as you say right through any given bike parade--there are literally a couple hundred organized ride events this month --would barely take out a significant fraction of the geek bicyclists.

that was kinda dumb.

I just feel like a nerd for needing to correct this, but those things that flew around the AT-ATs in the movie are not A-Wings, they're Speeders. In-atmosphere aircraft, while A-wings are space-fighters.

Star Wars vs Star Trek bike ride? Real nerds don't go out in the sun, nor do they exerciser.

Hipsters polluting pure nerd culture.

You wanna make a real star wars nerd tandem bike? Make one with Han and Greedo, and Han repeatedly shooting first.

/sorry, just watched People vs Lucas last night

I think that was covered.

Why wouldn't they make a speeder bike bike?

Yup. Hipsters who have been watching too much Big Bang Theory, and now feel the need to grab onto nerd & geek culture to stay properly hip.

SImply being in Seattle was the first clue...watching the video sealed the deal. The first guy they show was the worst...he was trying way too hard.

A-Wing was the best dog fighter, but couldn't handle large ships for beans. Your first A-Wing mission in X-Wing was a biatch, too. You run out, scan transport at point blank range, and all of a sudden a couple of frigates warp in on your ass, blocking your hyperspace lane. Scared the shiat out of me.

I maintain that Alliance Fleet Command missed a golden opportunity with the A-Wing. With its speed and short-range electronic counter-measures, it would have been the perfect platform to put ion cannons on. If you can knock out a ship's deflector screens with heavier fighters or capital ship weapons, you can have a fast, agile fighter with some durability dancing around hitting a ship at close range. Unless you're dealing with a dedicated anti-starfighter ship type such as the Lancer frigate or a Strike cruiser with a point defense loadout, you could easily knock out heavy weaponry with a handful of starfighters.

Erm, point is, I know the difference between an AT-AT and an AT-ST. I was making a joke that an AT-AT built for two would be a smaller version with a two-man crew, or in other words, the AT-ST.

I've always wanted to dress up a duel sport motorcycle to look like a speeder bike.. I think that would be so cash, it would be the tits!

That is hopelessly lame. Even if they tried to detail it a bit to look more like an authentic one, it'd still be kind of dumb to look at.

Random factoid 99% of you probably know: The AT-AT commander, General Veers, was Julian Glover, known for playing Ari Kristatos in For Your Eyes Only, Walter Donovan in Indiana Jones and the Holy Grail and the voice of Aragorg in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, thus making him a part of four of the biggest movie series in film history.

It's just you. Anyone who grew up in the 70's and 80's knows it's pronounced @-@.

Also there's this. See number 11.

Spelling it out, yeah, it would be annoying as hell if people spelled it with the "at" symbol. Anyone too farking lazy to type out "At" in At-At should be sterilized, along with people who type "U" instead of "You" or "R" instead of "Are." Dumbing down the English language should be a capital offense.

As for "At-At," well, that is the correct way to pronounce it.
