If that was a Wisconsin driver, they would have tipped the cart back over and kept on driving....to the bar.

FTFA: The driver was wearing goggles meant to simulate what it's like to drive drunk.

I thought beer goggles was just an excuse to fark fatties...

I always though that was silly, I mean who really needs an excuse to fark fatties?

Maybe just issue all kids 'Drunk Goggles' (TM). This way, they can experience drunkness without drinking! Do I have to do everything around here?

My big question: What happens if the student does ok with the driving? Won't that just reinforce that he CAN drive after drinking. I think the outcome of injuries should be the expected outcome.

Well I guess it proved the point then. But if the kid didnt take an ugly chick home then it's only half a lesson

Beejing & driving doesn't mix, kids!

The simulator I learned on:
farm8.staticflickr.com

When the sign says the speed limit for the jump is 60mph, it damn well means it.

Who ever it was that designed that "tricked out simulator" should have it driven up their ass. Typically these things have wheeled out riggers that would have kept it from flipping over.

It's a set up, the golf cart ALWAYS crashes, goggles or no goggles.

Or at least a virtual cabinet. A great big driving video game that has no chance of actually crashing. It couldn't possibly cost more than that monstrosity. Bonus: actual simulators exist.

CSB:
I participated in a drunk goggle test during driver's ed. Mainly just walking in lines and picking stuff up. They certainly do mess with your vision, but as long as you took your actions slow enough, everything was easy as pie. What did I learn? Drive slow when your drunk.
/ok, not CSB.

What show was it where they set up a drunk driving situation by having the people drive towards a wall and stop, having them take a shot after each attempt. One guy kept getting progressively better...

I want to say Reno 911, but I really can't remember.

Did I just get 'Track-Rolled'??

Were they driving away from a T-rex?

If all kids learnt to drive while wearing drunk goggles then they'd be so good at it then it wouldn't matter if they then drove while really drunk.

The local sheriff's office set up one of these drunk driving simulator courses at my high school. They cordoned off the entire back parking lot for a day to set up the orange cone lined course. I was the first one to try it out and I will readily admit that it was damn near impossible not to run over the cones. I mixed up the brake and gas pedals and ended up smashing the Honda civic into the Sheriff's cruiser. I guess it didn't help that I was shiat faced out of my gourd on top of wearing the goggles.

My cousin had this game. We would try to find the most creative ways of crashing and crack up watching the replay.

Oh, and don't overcompensate the speed limit. You end up overshooting and crashing still. It damn well means 60.

Exactly! Fact: you know why so many drunk drivers get in wrecks? Because they don't learn how to drive drunk.

Whoever did it would have to buy the first round, too. If my fellow hillbillies were any indication of our drunk driving skills we could have taken that humvee to Canada and back.

I remember there was an episode of WKRP where they had a state trooper come in and give test on air. Venus got drunk and the more Johnny drank the more sober he acted.

now that i remember more.. they were measuring reaction time live on the air, not driving.
Venus Flytrap ended up on the floor.

Would easily have to buy the first round! Maybe those guys that drive their riding lawnmowers to the bar should get a hummer cart like the one in TFA. Looks sturdy.

Close, they were in the studio and tested reaction time with a button. Johnny, Venus and cop in the studio, by the end of the test the Venus is lit, Johnny is lightning on the button and the cop, frustrated with Johnny's results, is guzzling from the bottle.

I've seen a few people take a four person ATV with a roll cage do that. It lets you duck down a trail if you think Johnny Law and lets you have more beer along for the ride.

/Heaven forbid a buzz wears off.

So, they're letting the kids get in some drunk driving practice? I guess if you're gonna do it, you should be well trained. It really is an art though.

I've had the 'beejing' while driving. It was fun until the first car drove past. Scary about being spotted, scary about not paying enough attention to the road.

Would you rather these kids find out they aren't good at drinking and driving in a parking lot at 10 mph or in fifteen year old Corsica going 60 mph?

They'll never learn to do it properly if you don't even let them try.

If you've been driving for years, how do these goggles affect you? I know when I'm really drunk, my vision isn't the problem.
