I think he's aged much better. Looked like a douchey punk back then, he looks rather distinguished now. He's doing the "former pop star" thing right... he's lived a relatively quiet but enjoyable life, including being with one of the girls from Bananarama for the last 20 years.

A tour? Does George need an excuse to update his database of public restrooms?

From today's Guardian:

There is no truth in rumours that Wham! are reuniting, a spokeswoman for George Michael has told the Guardian. The rumours spread after the Daily Mirror reported that Michael and Andrew Ridgeley were to reunite for "a one-off pop extravaganza" to mark the 30th anniversary of their first hit single.

The article quoted neither Michael, nor Ridgeley, but an "insider" who said the pair would probably not tour or record, but would perfom a single gig.

Michael's camp insists there are no such plans, and that unfounded rumours about Wham! returning surface frequently. What Michael is actually doing to mark the 30th anniversary of Wham! Rap entering the charts on 29 June 1982 is releasing his own new single, White Light.

This looks like being the second big reunion rumour of 2012 to be scuppered by the principals, following the Smiths' dismissal of a story about them reuniting earlier in the year.

We all dodged a bullet here folks

To be fair, all the pop stars looked like that -- and then after that too. Find a picture of Motley Crue from the late '80s with the eyeliner, lipstick and big hairsprayed perms and remember that all those guys are straight.

Are you saying it's just Careless Whispers?

I impressed my husband a few years back over Andrew Ridgley...
He was talking about how no one knows the names of two of the four members of the Chili Peppers, and a few other bands were mentioned... then he said "and no one remembers the name of the other guy from Wham"... I immediately said "Andrew Ridgley"... He was truly impressed with the amount of useless crap in my head, and apparently that was paramount.

Apparently Andrew does want his Freedom.

Time will never mend these Careless Whispers.

If you're gonna do it, do it right. Bad boys stick together, never sad boys. Even if you have to turn a different corner. Everything you want is everything you need - they work so hard for you.

Hopefully George's people have explained to him that with the internet, he can find all the hot sweaty no strings attached mansex he could ever need without leaving his house (one of my gay friends jokes that the net is the Dominos pizza of gay hookups - if you can't find someone in 30 minutes or less, you're not really trying).

He was the straight one?

Wow! I was pretty sure they were a couple and that Wham's breakup wasn't about music but if you had convinced me one of them was straight back then I wouldn't have guessed Andrew

Actually tonight on my way home I heard Careless Whisper on the radio. Not that sissy sax-driven original, but the ass-kicking rock version done by Seether. I had no idea it existed until tonight.

If that was his solo album from the early 90s, it was actually pretty good from what I remember.
