It's pretty simple. Break the huddle early, get to the line, audible, audible, audible, fake a handoff to your running back and throw a 7 yard out to your safety valve. Do that all season long, and then look like a chump when Tracy Porter picks you off in the Super Bowl because everyone in the stadium knows that throw is comming.

Then yell at random receiver for running the wrong route.

As an Indy fan, I will miss the rare glimpses of emotion that Peyton showed.

/The sad thing is, he's a good kicker. He's a good kicker, but he's an idiot.

Oh look, Saints fans being assholes. It must be a day that ends in 'Y'.

The first dude lives in Minnesota, I find it highly questionable he'd be a Saints fan. As for me, shiat, I only said "done in one," essentially. I was pretty nice, in fact.

The sad part is if the player actually cuts inside, instead of hesitating (and assuming Manning actually makes a good throw), the Colts win the game.

He won't have much to work with. Reggie Wayne has clearly lost a few steps, and Austin Collie will get a concussion in OTAs. No running game, lousy defense...if the Colts win 4 games, he will have done a great job.

The point was that the problem with that play (and why it was picked off) wasn't simply the fact that people knew the throw was coming (after all, they'd been running it routinely for years with usual success), but that the play was not properly executed. This wasn't Troy Polamalu haxxing the Titans o-line.

That drive was to tie the game, not win it.

I hope I'm wrong. Tell me what you know.

Well, even with the worst set of QBs in the league last year, we had an average running game. Luck is going to be no worse and the offensive line gained better run blockers, so I expect that to remain steady at worst.

Reggie has lost a few steps, but most of his issues last year (and Collie's) stemmed from the QB play. I expect both of them to improve with Luck at QB. Neither WR is or has ever been a burner, so they rely on the route running and fakes to get open. Reggie hasn't lost any of that (he is slower though so not as many deep balls) and Collie has has success in the slot and outside, so I doubt there is any real regression. Collie is also rocking a new type of helmet and went concussion free last year, so I have higher hopes.

The Colts defense last year was bad, no question. However a lot of that was the horrible 3rd down % and TOs "generated" by opposing defenses. The Colts are switching to a new system from the old Tampa-2. They got some new talent from the Ravens (McKinnie, Redding, and Zbikowski) in addition to what they had before (Bethea, Mathis, Freeney, Powers, Angerer(?)). They definitely can't be worse than last year, so I'm actually expecting some improvement based on talent injection and frankly just change. If Phillips can take a league worst defense to overall #1 in a year with a new system, I think the Colts and Pagano can hit top 20, if not a bit higher.

Lastly you're omitting Fleener and Allen as offensive weapons. The Colts, under new OC Arians, had double tight end sets (ala 2011 Brady) and used them to great success during Manning's formative years. Very worst he can use them as check down options.

For the tldr crown, the Colts offense can't be worse from a QB standpoint, and I expect a fair performance out of Luck. The defense can't be worse and teams often have a positive response to change for at least a season. I don't have lofty expectations - 4-12 for the Colts. If they hit six wins, I would be ecstatic. There were many games last year where the offense literally gave the game away in the 4th quarter. If the offense had been retooled from the Manning approach to a more reasonable approach by the coaches AND Painter hadn't been allowed on the field, I think the Colts could have easily had 5 wins last year.
