So the records were lost omitted or deleted during the reclamation?

Obviously torture couldn't have happened if there are no records of it.

So, do right-wing British newspapers even cover UK news anymore or is it just Fartbongo and American reality TV personalities 24/7?

So basically Obama's grandmother, a third person account, may or may not have been accurate (we don't actually have any evidence that would confirm or deny this, just speculation and some lazy reporting) but he was told this story by her and relayed this in his book, and now this makes it his fault because human memory is so goddamn perfect?

shiat, my parents told me all kinds of stuff that wasn't true when I was a kid. They said I was full Irish and found out twenty years later my dad's family came off the boat from...Germany. My dad omitted a good deal about what he had done as a young adult and even some of what he had done while I was growing up.

And yes, torture is largely left undocumented, for obvious reasons.

Question, here's the quote from the Daily Mail:

"But Maraniss, who researched Obama's life in Kenya, Indonesia, Hawaii and the mainland United States, found that there were 'no remaining records of any detention, imprisonment, or trial of Hussein Onyango Obama'. He interviewed five people who knew Obama's grandfather, who died in 1979, who 'doubted the story or were certain it did not happen'."

My questions are:

What are the likelihood that records of detentions (and possibly illegal detentions) during still survived in a Sub-Saharan African country during and after a period of extremely violent uprising?

Who would be in a better position to know of whether Obama's grandfather was detained or not - Obama's grandfather's WIFE? Or five people who happened to know about Obama's grandfather?

Also let's be perfectly honest, who f*cking cares? Can we maybe pick a president over policies, not that his recollection of a third person account of something that happened decades ago that potentially possesses some factual errors? Is human memory particularly good? NO. So shut up. Seriously what f*cking moron picks a president over stuff that didn't even happen in that person's lifetime?

Oh yeah. Americans.

Can't we just lie to the entire world media and tell them it's November 9th already?

\doesn't matter who we vote for, the other side will invariably bicker and hold up the policy of the winning side anyway

Obama's step-grandmother Sarah, Onyango wife, who is still living, is quoted in the future President's memoir, as saying: 'One day, the white man's askaris came to take Onyango away, and he was placed in a detention camp.

'But he had been in the camp for over six months, and when he returned to Alego he was very thin and dirty. He had difficulty walking, and his head was full of lice. He was so ashamed, he refused to enter his house or tell us what happened.'
In a 2008 interview, Sarah Obama claimed that he was 'whipped every morning and evening' by the British. 'They would sometimes squeeze his testicles with metal rods. They also pierced his nails and buttocks with a sharp pin, with his hands and legs tied together. He was lucky to survive. Some of his fellow inmates were mutilated with castration pliers and beaten to death with clubs.'

Oh, I see.... His GRANDMOTHER is the one making the statements, so that makes Obama himself the liar? Anyone got a calculator handy?? How does the math work on this one?

My god, it certainly takes a while for conservatives to finish a book, doesn't it? I'm starting to understand why so many Re-Re's in the Congress have been crying, "THIS BILL'S TOO LONG!! I DON'T WUNNA HAFTA REED ALL OF IT!"

"Dreams of my Father" is a self serving BS proganda piece written by a pot smoking, full of himself, diletante at the ripe old age of 30. I'd take everything in the book as questionable.

However ask if you ask these same people if the Bible is the infallible Word of God, and you'll get a different set of requirements to determine truthiness.

Wait, was it printed in Vanity Fair? That is apparently a more 'legit' source anyway... If it isn't in Vanity Fair or a promo booklet full of author bios, then I don't believe it happened...

Only if you believe the veracity of a story written down after being passed down by word-of-mouth for generations. At least the Obama story had only ONE editor.

Yeah, 442 pages would take your average conservative at least a decade, you should be praising these people for finishing it so quickly. Instead, you attack them because they're slow... For shame!

History will remember you as a worthless overweight chud who invented alts to make it look like you have friends.

The "evidence" for most of the accusations he makes is pretty unconvincing, but this takes the cake:

FTA: Maraniss also casts a sceptical eye on Obama's grandmother's tales of racism in Kansas, doubting whether she was ever chastised for addressing a black janitor as 'Mister' or ridiculed for playing with a black girl.

I mean, what the hell? you can just write a biography of someone and just make shiat up? I mean fark, this asshole is just flat out saying "I have no actual evidence to doubt this, but I just can't believe that Kansas in the 1930's was racist, so Obama must be lying about it!".

I mean for fark's sake, I wouldn't be surprised to find out Obama embellished or exaggerated something in the book, but this is clearly a WND-level hitpiece masquerading as a biography.

What, a book about dreams isn't the minutes of Obama's life, as faithfully recounted by his friends and disciples? Damn. Next thing you're going to tell me is that the Bible isn't a factual blow-by-blow account of the life of Jesus.

Rupert Murdoch has nothing to do with the Daily Mail.

The Mail covers this shiat because it gets lots of traffic from America and it thinks this crap will attract more clicks from the kind of people who are really, really, fascinated by celebrity cellulite.
