CruJones: You know, I like most vaginas. However, I do not want to be anywhere near the one owned by the woman in the picture.

Also, FTA: "We're talking about the silencing of women, we're talking about censoring people for saying a body part," she said. "Half of these people who are trying to regulate vaginas, they can't even say the word."

Speaking last week against a bill that would require doctors to ensure abortion-seekers haven't been coerced into ending their pregnancies, Brown told Republicans, "I'm flattered you're all so concerned about my vagina. But no means no."

Regulating vaginas? Someone needs a lesson in reproduction. Unless I'm totally confused about which is the uterus and which is the vagina.

well, when the laws concerned here talk about shoving things into the vagina, which is the opening to the uterus, one would think that the vagina would also be of concern in these matters.

Unless you know of some other entry to the uterus that science is unaware of.

domenad: Guys have always been the ones accused of "thinking with the small head", yet every five seconds I see some dumb quiff proud of how she's a slut or talking about her vagina or whipping her vagina out in public or inserting a baseball bat in front of a kindergarten class or some other such silly nonsense. You ladies need some more hobbies I think.

Every 5 seconds? You might want to turn safe-search back on.

Let's see. If a man had said something like, "I am flattered you all are so interested in my penis, but no means no". He would be labeled a chauvinis (and rightly so). And upon being called a chauvinist, he got belligerent and began saying, "Waaaa? I can't say penis? It's a body part!"? He'd be labeled as stupid.

But if a woman says it, then that is empowering women and any of you men who don't think so, well you're all just sexist.

When my sons were young I taught them the proper medical terminology for their body parts. The look on my mother's face when my eldest, who was 2 at the time, said "Gramma, I have a penis!" - priceless! When he later stated that girls have a vagina, she practically fainted. She was horrified that I had taught him "such dirty words".

Creating euphemisms for body parts is an antiquated Victorian ideology that needs to be eliminated. I'm a woman with breasts and a vagina, not dirty pillows and a hoohoo. Better to teach them the proper terms then to take the chance that some asswipe pedobear gets acquitted for messing with them because the courts can't prove that "weewee" or "hoohoo" means penis or vagina.

And in a less threatening sense, over-using euphemisms just leads to parents having to translate them into English to their great embarrassment. It can be difficult for diagnosing medical problems as well.

Devo: Mitt is staying mum about any hot button issues.

He has to. If he supports anything, he will either alienate the 'independent' vote or the GOP 'base.' Look at immigration; Obama comes out with a perfectly reasonable plan to stop deporting kids, and Mitt can't say anything about it. If he supports it, he pisses off the racist teabaggers. If he goes against it, he pisses off the Latinos

The GOP has painted themselves into a very small corner that is getting smaller as the 'old white person' vote dies off. It's hilarious.

Either you don't know what Representative Brown actually said that started this whole thing, or else you have no clue what a strawman argument is.

Go back to feigning outrage because we supposedly banned a word from being said when in reality no such thing occurred.

Damn, it's hard to know just where to stand on this issue. Of course the Republicans are being stiff, unyielding pricks about the issue. But State Rep. Lisa Brown goes just as far overboard in the other direction. Her tirade about vaginas was deliberately calculated specifically to be offensive. If this were not so, she would have correctly stated that it was their uterii that the Republicans were attempting to legislate. Or is she that unfamiliar with female anatomy? In making her argument specifically about vaginas, she unwittingly made the implied issue about recreational sex, rather than sticking to the medical aspect of unwanted pregnancies that result from recreational sex. Her statement that the republicans were depriving her constituents of representation is dead-on. What they are doing to them, through her, is unconstitutional.

Oh for fark's sake I generally avoid using the word penis in public for the exact same reason -- it offends people and I'm sick and tired of dealing with it. Women get offended as often, if not more often. Why should "vagina" have all the fun?

There's a conservative-driven stigma against talking openly about sex in public that I don't agree with, but don't pretend you don't know it. I'd be the first to call it derpy, but it sure as hell isn't sexist.

Odd how the majority never seems to get a break with words and phrases. As a white male, I cannot say "n*gger" or suggest people are interested in my penis. When will we ever get a break? I haven't had one since... I would say 1965 but maybe 1974 in honor of Richard Pryor, and wasn't that long, maybe since the dawn of history.

Some GOP Rep was on the radio yesterday trying to defend their position by saying 'Vagina' wasn't the issue, that the speaker broke several other floor rules. But frankly, even though GOPer may have had a point, people so expect the GOP to create an opposite reality with their statements that it all sounds like parody.

HAMMERTOE: In making her argument specifically about vaginas, she unwittingly made the implied issue about recreational sex, rather than sticking to the medical aspect of unwanted pregnancies that result from recreational sex.

I know a thing or two about babies, having made a few myself, and the vagina is most assuredly an important part of the process... both coming and going. I know that much sex is recreational, but believe it or not both my wife and I greatly enjoyed the sex that was deliberately had to create our babies. The same pathway that leads to unintended pregnancies just so happens to work for the planned kind.

Vagina is a medical term; there is no more professional way of saying it. The legislature is a place where adults work, and really if they're that grossed out by women's reproductive system then how the hell do they feel entitled to legislate medical policy and procedure surrounding it?

I can't wait for Romney to get elected and finally strip these bothersome women of all their rights then maybe, just maybe, we can get some damn peace and quiet around here. They shouldn't be allowed outside unless accompanied by husband, father, or court appointed escort. We should also go ahead cover them up so we don't even have to look at them.

I'm actually surprised the GOP are letting these women perform the satanist play of the Vag*** Monologues. They should storm out of the capital and stone them all to death.

Yes, vagina is the technical term. She tried to make it about her vagina.
