Godscrack: Not rock, but listen worthy

Everybody Dance (intro) - Chic. Bass by Bernard Edwards
Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin) - Sly and the Family Stone
Bernadette The Four Tops. Bass by Carol Kaye

I'm pretty sure the bassline for Bernadette was played by the mighty James Jamerson of Motown Records.

Music's mightiest basslines, hmm? Quincy Jones 'The Streetbeater' not found anywhere. But of course, as with all lists since the 90's Nirvana is present. For something that's actually played on guitar.

List, like all others, sucks, but gets a bonus point for extra derp.

Any list of great basslines just sucks rotting donkey cocks without mention of Sweet Emotion, as well as just about anything from Soul Coughing.

Sounds like an electronic didgeridoo. And not in a good way.

you do need a high end system to not distort the bassline, otherwise... oh who am i kidding

No kidding! No Doubt made no contribution to that bass line. They shouldn't get any credit.

Your Average Witty Fark User: Wait a second...

No Rush.

No Primus.

No Orion, or anything else by the Cliff Burton era Metallica.

WHAT.THE.FARK.

This list is so bad, I wouldn't even wipe my ass with it.

It gave me cancer. Even with Nancy Sinatra's nice cans

Granted, that is a HOOK, which music experts in this thread have seperated from a bassline, but I also have been waiting for in the thread, and surprised it took so long to mention.

And I am now walking round in circles.

Nor should a armature bass player who does a cover of shiatty version of a great song

No Les Claypool? I can't remember names for shiat, but that's a name I won't forget in correlation with the bass.

My Name is Mud

Tommy the Cat

Jerry Was a Race Car Driver

I'm no musicologist, but I was surprised it wasn't #1 in the original list of MIGHTIEST BASELINES of all time. So I assumed there must have been a good reason.

One of the Millions - XTC, written by Colin Moulding. Moulding was fantastic at marrying melodic lines with supportive grooves. King for a Day would be another good example.

Every good (non-Who) bassline is just a cheap imitation of John Entwistle.

Just from some of the bands she picked in TFA. I find these better/more enjoyable to me.
Interpol - PDA (especially the end)
Breeders - Fortunately Gone or London Song
Nirvana - Lounge Act, Sliver
Pixies - Gigantic, Hey, Here Comes Your Man,......hell a lot of them come to mind before Debaser.

2012-06-19 03:21:24 AM
List is FAIL without The Smithereens' "Blood and Roses."
