Speaking of [i.imgur.com image 640x148], I'm worried about him, he's usually front and center by now.

Its about 1 am right now where he is. Come to think of it I can't remember the last time I saw anything posted by him. Couple weeks ago?

Pantubo: Yeah, subby. The fact that Obama golfs 8 times as often as Bush did does not make him a useless elitist out-of-touch dope whatsoever.

/ but it still does for Bush, right? yes. yes of course it does.

the simple truth is that how many times the President plays golf or spends time doing anything else away from the White House does not mean a thing. The President's job is to make decisions and he can do that anywhere.

Who's prepping for what now?

imontheinternet: Egypt is disintegrating, and the revolution is about to turn into a full-blown military coup.

I would think a military coup would make a war with Egypt *less* likely. The Egyptian military seems pretty savvy that no one really likes the Bedouins, and Israel and Egypt have a common interest in keeping the Sinai quiet.

Also, it's a god-forsaken desert that no one really wants.

The outcome might be different when they are actually expecting it and not afraid of pissing off the Allies armies ready and waiting in Europe.

This. My money is on Salafist jihadists. In a perfect world the 2 countries could get along well enough to catch and get the assholes extradited to Israel. Instead they will bicker and sabre-rattle and the nutbags will go free.

Except that nothing in the article suggests preparing for war. In fact, the article talks about building a fence, which suggests the opposite.

Porous Horace: stonelotus: lol, Israeli math...

Article title: Militants cross into Israel from Egypt, 1 killed

Second sentence: One of the Israeli workers was killed, and two assailants died in a gunbattle with Israeli troops responding to the attack.

That would make 3.

Then...

Fourth paragraph, first sentence: Several hours after the attack, an Israeli airstrike killed two men riding a motorcycle in the northern Gaza Strip near the Israeli border.

We're up to 5 dead now.

How many were killed in The Holocaust again? Bet you said 6 million unless you looked it up.

The figure is actually over 7 million, counting that Israeli worker.

Well played. But you're both burning in hell.

Practical_Draconian: Probably more like Egypt asking Israel "Hey, we need a favor returned. Gotta hang some red meat to distract the angry folks here. Can you be our boogeyman for a few days? It's all cool, plus we might get the stupid outsiders to send more money to us."

You know, you might have something there. Cynical as hell, but plausible.

Small skirmishes on the border happen daily. That means nothing.

The military of Egypt being in control is actually what Israel and others want. Saudi Arabia too. They don't like democracy, democracy is an unknown element when you have a lot of people with different views voting in important elections.

A democratically elected Egypt could push for war with Israel. An Egypt under military rule wouldn't be stupid enough to destroy their country by pushing for a war with Israel.

I have voted in every election since 1976. And by now, I am pretty convinced, current given current climate, that every vote is a wasted vote. It's not that people shouldn't vote. It's that the political bosses have figured out how to target specific demographics and tailor the message for their desired outcome. So by now, the rational folks vote doesn't make a damn bit of difference. As long as the rabid partisans can be split off like a piece of matchstick, the powerful elites can control the unwashed masses and the votes of those that give a shiat really don't matter anymore. When one tenth of one percent wins an election, reality doesn't matter anymore.

Not sure if serious. America had nothing to do with Israel's military victories.

Israel destroyed the nuclear reactors of Syria and Iraq, against the wishes of America.

Breathing a sigh of relief that Christopher Hitchens is dead, because next to nobody else on the left has ever been willing to call bullshiat on Carter.

That handshake at Camp David? We got that through the same old shiat that was supposed to have fallen out of favor when the Nixon-Ford-Kissinger crew left: schmoozing dictators. It worked out real nice for Carter. Not so good for the average Romanian, or Moroccan, or Egyptian, however.

But yeah, Carter's all noble and pious and shiat. Not like those Republican cowboys. When Carter farks up a country, he does a damn thorough job so that it STAYS farked-up - see Zimbabwe.

1. Little to none, especially Iran because Iraq and Jordan are in the way.

2. Depend on if America sides with Israel as it's ally or Egypt as it's ally, you know?

2012-06-18 11:52:06 PM
Considering the current state of iraq I wouldn't consider that much of a roadblock. Jordan on the other hand is sort of a wildcard, I could see them going either way.

I have no idea how the US would play it, but I would assume India would attempt to come to Israels' aid, if for no reason then just to stick it to pakistan.

I doubt it would stop there.
The whole point of Muslims provoking Jews is because some of them think a grand war will allow the Islamic phoenix to rise by wiping out all foreign influence in the region. The truth is that, for the Islamic states that decide to get involved, its more of a suicide pact than a holy war.
The west will charge in on Israels behalf (not that they need help). Leading to another opportunity to dump our old ordinance and topple a few regimes in the process.
The result will probably be short, violent, and cost no small amount of money from our treasury.

/The Russians and Chinese wont care much since the spoils will be theirs.
