Not far from my home.

Also not far from my home: gigantic crosses and huge Confederate flags next to the interstate.

/Some people aren't happy until you know their opinions.

Yep I know exactly where that is. Drive by it several times a year.

I saw this posted on the original Fark thread when this thing first burnt down, and now it looks prophetic. I wish I knew who to credit for this little bit of genius.

PapaChester: Well, it just strikes me as gratifying that these people are setting themselves up for "hellfire and brimstone" through their own hubris. To not follow your churches most basic dogma and not seek forgiveness for it because you feel you are in the right, in opposition to the man you recognize as the prophet himself.

It is difficult to be humble, especially when it is out of style.

Slaxl: Whatever happened to no graven images?

Agreed. Time for another iconoclast. You grab the gasoline, I'll bring the fixings for some S'mores.

parahaps: CapnPlaty: Crewmannumber6: That was 'Big Butter Jesus'. 'Touchdown Jesus' always has and always will be in South Bend, IN.

I don't think anyone but the media called it Touchdown Jesus. It was always Big Butter Jesus after the Heywood Banks song.

I drive by this every day twice a day (work in Cincy, live in 'boro).

It was always Touchdown Jesus to my friends and me. I'd never heard it called Big Butter Jesus until a Fark thread.

Nope, sorry, this is Touchdown Jesus:

Could also be called the "Help, I'm Drowning in this Lake" Jesus.

Let's put up 51-foot statues of Zeus, Thor, Kulkukhan, and the Flying Spaghetti Monster and see how the Christians react.

Heh...I was waiting to hear something like that...never did, dagnabbit. I wasn't a fan of the Bourbon St. scene, but I dug the area immediately around the cathedral, and curse myself for not getting a drink at Pirate's Alley Café. shakes tiny fist

I live in the area and everyone I know calls it "Touchdown Jesus". I've heard "Big Butter Jesus" a few times, but not nearly as much.

As a roller derby ref, it was always "No Pack Jesus"

I guess the new one qualifies as "Pack is Here Jesus"

Yup, this thread once again confirms there is nothing in the world less tolerant than a bunch of liberals.

Why do you tolerate the breaking of the Commandment against graven images?
They weren't suggestions, you know.
