(The Daily Caller)   Jon Stewart's rants on Mitt Romney's wealth might feel a little less hollow if he didn't make $41k a day and use shelters to avoid paying taxes on his $3.5 million houses   (dailycaller.com) divider line 370

"Though Stewart distances himself from the "one-percenters" "

Well, that's a big fat lie, Daily Caller. Stewart consistently refers to himself as rich, and has said on many different occasions that he would like to have a higher tax rate on himself.

In other news: a Daily Caller journalist is really annoyed that a guy whose biggest claim to fame before TDS was a film where his big line "...on weed..." is outstripping her salary by a fair amount.

Apparently being a tool of ebbil Socialists pays really well...

Is he saying that his taxes should be lower and that programs for the poor and middle classes should be gutted to pay for those tax cuts?

I've seen people use this to point out that his brother is president of the NYSE, and therefore he's really a tool of the ebil capitalist banking system.

Jon Stewart had an unfair advantage, being born to extremely wealthy parents.

Oh wait, that was Mitt Romney...

Kinda like that.

/I didn't realize that he was a junior until I just looked his name up to check the Hussein spelling...why doesn't anyone derisively call him "Junior?"

haha i love how both sides of that "is it anti-semitism or just the truth" debate are calling the other side liberal democrat false flag plants.

Jon Stewart never raided pension funds, cut profit sharing, bankrupted a company, destroyed a small towns livelihood, shipped any jobs overseas or sought more tax breaks for himself. He is also a real job creator and has launched many successful careers for up and coming comedians.

And he tried to teach Tucker Carlson a lesson that the latter obviously refused to take to heart. Not even a little bit.

The sad/funny thing is that Jon doesn't pretend to be anything but a funny nebbishy New York Jew. I honestly think his name change to Stewart is because Leibowitz is hard to spell and annoying to say. This was common with many Polish, Russian, Greek, and other ethnically-named actors for years, not just Jews.

Bloody William: I honestly think his name change to Stewart is because Leibowitz is hard to spell and annoying to say.

My understanding is that, in addition to the "easy stage name" bit, he doesn't get along with his father, so refuses to use his name. Apparently, addressing Stewart as Leibowitz is a legitimate hot-button issue for him.

2012-06-18 11:34:45 AM
I love how the article tries to paint Stewart as a tax dodger, because his trust owes sub-$2,000 in taxes. I'm sure his multi-million-dollar empire can't find a measly two grand. Probably an accounting oversight, but the Daily Caller makes him sound like friggin' Madoff.
