(NPR)   FDA develops labeling regulations for sunscreen so you actually know what the heck you're buying. The companies that make sunscreens whine, get the regulation pushed back a year   (npr.org) divider line 7

In before fake Libertarians decry the Government's proper role in making sure that transactions are conducted under transparent terms.

"After we published all these requirements we received data showing that manufacturers wouldn't be able to fully implement all the requirements until December of this year for most products," says the FDA's Reynold Tan.

Call the dermatologist, because I think we just found our mole.

mesmer242: There's some Somalians in Minnesota and Sweden with really high rates of autism even though it was unheard of when they were in Somalia.

Gleeman: Think there might be a slight difference in the quality/availability of behavioral screening between Somalia and the USA.

Believe or not, the people conducting this research are actually aware of this. Part of what they're doing is proper testing/diagnosing in Somalia in an attempt to accurately determine the autism rate in Somalia. Or did you really think you're so much more clever that people with PhDs and years of experience in conducting this sort of research?

Whats even more maddening about this whole thing isn't that the FDA pushed it back another year, its that the FDA recommended these changes in 1978 and the 'sunscreen lobby' has successfully pushed it off until more and more and more and more and more and more and more "studies" were done.

Once Obummer took office his administration decided to enforce the FDAs initial findings FROM 34 YEARS AGO, which of course shows a dramatic overreach of his socialist-pig nanny state politics. Sunscreen manufacturers obviously would have eventually self regulated. I don't see the need for governments big sunburned nose in the sunscreen market.

When people start dying of skin cancer and their relatives report what sunscreen they were using, others will stop buying that sunscreen. The number of people that die will be determined by how long it takes others to figure out what's wrong. Welcome to capitalism, the solution for everything.

Dear America,
You created a FOOD and DRUG administration to protect you from your own greedy countrymen and it controls the SNAKEOIL you use to keep yourself from being burned while you LIE IN THE SUN.
You are too stupid to protect yourselves.
You're going to get burned, either way.
Lurve,
Uncle vudu.
