NBC should sign him up. That guy had the most substantive insight all weekend.

My favorite part of the coverage yesterday was when they tried to connect Lee Westwood's bad luck in losing a ball in a tree to Lee Janzen doing the same thing in 1998. They actually said, "They're both named 'Lee.' Amazing."

Amazing, indeed.

It's the USA, which means they'll figure out a way to charge him with something, probably a misdemeanor. Trespassing, disturbing the peace, public drunkenness, are the ones that come to mind immediately. Plus, it wouldn't surprise me if he resisted arrest, tripped up stairs in the police station, or had some other odd reason to end up bruised.

Sounds like a D and D, hopefully just a fine and probably a ban from USGA events.

No, it's not "Throw him in jail and lose the key" but you think they want every drunk idiot running in front of the cameras for their 15 minutes? Charge him and if he gets convicted maybe he'll get a sentence of a few days to a week, then that's it.

Now I gotta do all this farkin' paperwork. I think I'll show him what a chip shot with the baton feels like. I'll make him A-WOO alright.

You mean like the public does for nearly every live news broadcast? You always had one of two people hamming it up for the camera.

This guy really should spend about zero days in jail.. God forbid someone has fun at the expense of 3 seconds of TV time.

There are many seemingly minor infractions that can at least get you put in the cooler for a few hours, and this or some ancillary actions may qualify, depending. You can absolutely get cuffed and stuffed for disturbing the peace, trespassing, evading security, and stuff like that.

It can be, under certain circumstances. None of which have anything to do with U.S. federal laws. Most law in the U.S. that affects citizens in daily life is state level and below. (Federal laws apply mostly to regulation, interstate commerce, certain very serious crimes, and the like.)

For example, if you walk into a restaurant, that's legal. If you walk around the restaurant, that's also legal. If you walk up to a random table and start bothering the people there, you're pushing it. If it's clear that that's your intent, that can be actionable. And yes, you can be arrested for it. I mean, you'd have to make it worth their while, or be a repeat offender, a known pest, or such, but it's possible.

On the other hand, no, being an annoying prick isn't itself actionable. If it was, we'd have all been hooked up by now.

I can't recall who was teeing off yesterday, but the camera luckily caught one of those asshats who screams nonsense before and after a shot (like "youdaman") just at the moment he was screaming.

Dude was exactly as expected -- piss beer in one hand, swaying on his feet, buddies holding him steady. I went to Congressional last year, but could never pinpoint one of these douches.

Thanks NBC!

I was going to ask what the big deal was, but as soon as I saw Bob Costas, I knew. I'm pretty sure pulling faces around Bob is punishable by death.

Bob is a pretty good journalist (his interview with Sandusky was great work, especially considering he had all of 15 minutes to prepare for it). However, he does have a smug, self-important attitude I wouldn't mind seeing him lose.

There's a 'Shell Wonderful World of Golf' where Miller plays Olympic with Nicklaus, and Miller gags up so many short putts it's hard to take him seriously after watching it.

So yeah, he sucks.
