Are all the movies out? I thought there may have been one more.

In which case -- we're talking about rebooting a franchise before it's over?

Is there a Kickstopper campaign to donate to? I'd donate money to ensure that such a remake DID NOT HAPPEN.

Unless they completely rewrite Bella's character so there's an actual person there, I think this is a pretty terrible idea. So terrible I can't even describe it.

Oh God. Why would you even joke about something like that

When your target audience is 12-17 year old girls (and soccer moms), it makes sense in a perverted way to reboot every few years.

That actually makes some sense, as the first film had little to do with the source material, and Hollywood has been on a Philip K Dick kick recently. It's like remaking Kurt Vonnegut's Slapstick: every reason to do it, no reason not to.

2012-06-17 06:26:19 PM
Well... its not like it could get any worse.

If the new Spiderman is a success, all movies released in 2013 shall be rebooted and remade for 2014 starring, younger/hipper actors.

Dwight_Yeast: That actually makes some sense, as the first film had little to do with the source material

Actually, based on the trailers, it looks like a remake of the film as opposed to a closer adaptation of the book. I could be wrong but what's more likely, that the screenwriter read the book or just watched the movie?

Do you just repeat everything you hear without actually reading the book? The Arnold version did tell the Dick version, it just did it very fast and THEN it added a bunch of shiat to it.

No one goes to Mars in this one, if I'm not mistaken.

That and a Beckinsale/Biel catfight.

The prospect of Beckinsale and Biel going for each other's throats isn't enough of an incentive to part with my hard-earned wages for this. Something's wrong with me,I guess.

All the movies have been a special kind of shiat, and they come from fitting source material, but the first movie was such a special kind of absolute shiat in every way possible that I fear it alone will lead someone to want to make a reboot.

Also, it's been more than 20 years since the Ahnold version and that's within the usual time range for remakes.

Speaking of remakes...the movie that I really want to see remade is Flash Gordon...that movie could have been SO much cooler cheesier! With today's special effects, you could make an AWESOME Flash Gordon movie!!!

Or you could watch the crappy remake that Syfy did a few years ago.

That might be my problem with it more than anything else. I remember seeing that movie in the theater.

Then again, that was back when no one gave a shiat about an 11-year-old buying a ticket for an R-rated movie, so maybe I just have to accept that I'm old :P

Really? As an adaptation I thought it was pretty good. It added pacing and foreshadowing that are non-existent in the books. The only weird part was it moved the main character out of the maid role, cooking and cleaning for her father, which establishes her need to be dominated by males who don't really care about her. Also the classmates were not redneck enough, but I've never been to rural Washington to judge first-hand. The strangest part must have been casting the main character, who is never described, has no emotions and thinks little of her own well-being. I assumed she was unattractive.

How they should reboot "Twilight""

-Hire a bunch of young men of various races and nationalities, make sure they have a variety of body forms from muscular to slim to androgynous

-Have them wear nothing but thongs, in various colors that accentuate their skin tones

-Oil them up good, all over

-Stick some plastic fangs on their incisors

-Shoot a two-hour film of them outside in various natural places doing various things, with lots of snuggling and caressing and other physical contact, giving fang flashes and lustful looks to the camera

-Rake in money from females and interested males

-Give me the most pristine print of it

No, I just make a point of not reading Philip K Dick; I know enough about his work to know I won't like it.

Why not just do the whole thing again except make Edward a mummy and Jacob a Frankenstein? It's not like the fans of the series have any kind of discerning taste whatsoever.

To be fair, the problem there is more with the source material than the actress. There are very few books I've been simply unable to finish, with Twilight I got maybe a third of the way into book two before I simply couldn't take it anymore, put the thing down by a candle, and left the gas stove open so that the building exploded as I walked in slow motion down the front walk and put on my sunglasses.

//All right, I may have embellished that a bit.
//I'm glad they made it into movies, they're considerably less stupid than the novels (for example, the movie dialogue evidences at least a vague grasp of how the English language operates) and short enough that I can catch up on the plot to more effectively mock the series.
