This may actually be an exciting MIS race.

That would be the first exciting race since Daytona, and I'm only counting that because Montoya blew up a jet engine.

Brian Vickers apparently thought he was Montoya during one of his stints during the 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier.

Vickers and the car were both just fine, took about 8 minutes to fix the car and get it back on the track.

What'd y'all get for father's day?

I got a 4-pack of lambic frambois.

I couldn't either. I figured the car was done for or in for a very long stay in the garage.

Who's authorized to give permission? I actuallly split a lambic frambois with friends just this past Friday. YUM!

Go Junior! for pete's sake so we can stop spending all this time talking about how long it's been/how close you are

Awesome!

Also, I was thinking it's too bad things have gotten so uptight with allowing drivers to jump to something else for a weekend. I know it wouldn't work this year because of today's race, but imagine if it was a weekend off and a bunch of NASCAR guys flew over to France for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. And hey it's a week off for F1. Too bad no team would let them go over to do the 24 Hours.

We need to get a Jeff Burton win done first so we dont replace 88 with 31

Get ready to have restrictor plates at that track next year

Oldiron_79: Get ready to have restrictor plates at that track next year

Doubt it, they got one more set of races there this year in July to get the track rubbered in some more, but *do* expect some competition cautions this race (at least one at lap 20 to check and replace tires, maybe one at lap 40 to do another tire check, just so they can maybe avoid the debacle that was Indy last year).

2012-06-17 12:08:43 PM
Depending on how this goes, it MIGHT be more exciting than the US Open finish.

Holy carp...a TNT feature that made sense, was informative, and didn't plug a reality show...

Why are there 4 guys on horseback riding about on the street and folks screaming....

2012-06-17 12:09:53 PM

9beers: It's going to be a couple hours before this gets underway.

Race start time was *scheduled* for 1:16 PM EDT, but the rain is gonna make that more like 3:16 PM or even 4:16 PM, gives me a sad, guess it's time to play some more Diablo III. And yikes... that is gonna undo *all* the rubbering-in that was done over the weekend... expect a *lot* of competition cautions now :(. Oh, and speeds gonna be up around 215 on the straights again.

2012-06-17 12:12:23 PM
Oh well just watch the race on Speed, sure it's just the Continental Tires Sports Car Challenge, but it's ad Mid-Ohio.

MotoGP Silverstone has already concluded, unless you plan on watching the re-play.

New tires where 'new' is defined as made in 2006. When asked how they drive, there have been a lot of 'they drive like six year old tires'.

Should be a fun race with crazy old tires on the left side.

Jr made that comment yesterday and I think owing to my lack of sleep thanks to watching the 24 Hours of Le Mans I found it hilarious.

Well, Jimmie Johnson is going to the back due to an engine change so I think TKat is ahead of you.

I just spent half an hour making sandwiches and putting bathing suits on young'uns and then sent all women and kids off to the swimmin' hole a comfortable 30 miles away.

I think that implies permission...

I screwed up though - on closer inspection, it's not my traditional christmas-time frambois, it's kriek. Which I haven't had in probably 15 years. A holiday indeed.

Anyone have a link for a feed? No cable here, and the rest of the season aside from Watkins is on ESPN...

The fresh track should make this a good one, if Monto can keep his tires rolling forward.

Gah, "Not available this week" audio stream only. Oh well, it reminds me of listening to the Indy 500 on the radio every year driving home from camping with my dad.

I watched a Daytona 500 with my dad maybe 10 years ago. He was most impressed by the amount of carnage those drivers could walk away from. To the best of my knowledge that was the only race he ever sat through though.

They are from the user account nascarcasm on Twitter; I only re-post what he says. I could only wish I was half as snarky as he has been
